Hadaway leads Bobcats' blowout of Eagles

Ohio leads by 38 in 2nd half of 85-67 victory

ATHENS – Aidan Hadaway scored a career-high 20 points, and Ohio led by as many as 38 points while blowing out Eastern Michigan 85-67 on Saturday afternoon at The Convo.

The Bobcats shot 56.4% on the day and led 46-28 at halftime. That advantage ballooned to 82-44 with seven minutes remaining.

Shereef Mitchell and Jaylin Hunter scored 14 points each, and AJ Clayton finished with 10 points for the Bobcats (9-9, 3-3 Mid-American Conference).

MAC leading scorer Tyson Acuff had 30 points as the only player to reach double figures for the Eagles (8-10, 1-5 MAC).

Trailing 15-14 after eight minutes of play, the Bobcats turned things their way with a 12-0 run that put them ahead 26-15 with 8:39 left in the first half. After an Eagles free throw, Ohio scored seven more points as part of a larger 19-1 run that made the score 33-16.

Ohio’s lead was 54-36 four minutes into the second half when it put Eastern Michigan away. Gabe Wiznitzer made a layup that made it 70-40, and later a 12-0 run was capped by a Clayton layup that put the score at 82-44.

Although he scored only seven points, Miles Brown affected the game positively for the Bobcats with nine rebounds and five assists. Hunter had five rebounds and five assists. Witznitzer put up six points and seven rebounds.

The Bobcats have won two games in a row for the first time since a three-game winning streak that ended in early December. They did so without Elmore James, who missed his second game with a leg injury. He is expected to return within about a week.

Ohio plays at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Akron.
