Good call from JSF that a new thread for JP is long overdue...

Jason had a very Jason-esque statline in his G-League opener last night, going for 14/7/6 on 7-of-11 shooting against Bronny James and South Bay. Some familiar faces joined him in the starting lineup--Taevion Kinsey of Marshall and Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe: https://gleague.nba.com/game/slc-vs-sbl-2052400013?view=b...

I don't follow the NBA that much, but it looks like the Jazz are pretty terrible this year. Any chance that translates into Jason getting more opportunities for the first team?

Also seeing he injured his left leg during this game. Seems to be a calf issues and he couldn’t put weight on it. Not good…

Only if they completely give up on Keyonte George or he gets hurt. Mike Conley is going to be their backup and do the veteran leadership thing. Then again, they're run by Danny Ainge. You never know what he'll do.

Well, Mike Conley hasn't played for the Jazz in like 3 years. (I can't blame you though, the player movement these days makes it hard to keep track of everyone).

But your point still stands. The Jazz have guards younger than Preston that they clearly like more than JP, just based on the playing time they've given all of them over the past year while JP has been dominating the G-league. At this point, it doesn't seem likely to me that Preston will ever get much of a real crack at the NBA level.

Which there's obviously nothing wrong with, but his money making ability might be better overseas after this contract is up after this season. Unless someone else is willing to give him another 2-way deal to keep him as a flexibility option in case of injuries. Usually you see those contracts start to go to younger guys, though. It's tough to continue getting 2-way contracts.

Kind of a bummer, but it seems like his lack of explosive 1:1 ability on offense and his limitations on defense are contributing to those younger guys continuing to get NBA development opportunities over him. JP's floor is higher, but those guys with more elite athleticism probably have higher ceilings. And those NBA execs are always focused on finding the couple of guys that they can max their ceilings over finding lots of higher floor guys.

Never say never. But I have to believe this is the last year that JP goes into a season thinking he can make an NBA roster full-time. Going back and forth to G league can't be fun. And we know he can get PAID more overseas. Go over there next 2-3 years and maybe be another shot in the league again?

Sucks....it's great that he was drafted, but still frustrating he's not getting a run....even on the worst team in the league.

Whoops! In my defense, they have similar colors.

Proverbial AAAA player.

Perhaps. There's three teams now that have seen something they like, though. He might just surprise us and stick around.

At roughly $575,000 this year, he's likely making more than twice what he could get in Europe. People vastly overrate the money available to people over there. As far as I can tell, no team in Europe has a payroll of even $50 million. I don't think there's 20 teams on the continent with a payroll of $10 million. The BIG money is in China - but you'd have to live in China. That money, plus living in your home country, plus all the benefits you get being part of an NBA/GL roster that included in your salary, make a two-way deal way better than playing in the Euroleague.

Agree as long as he can secure these 2 way deals he should. At what age do teams stop wanting to burn a development roster spot on you? Can't imagine many make it to 30 in that league.

Former Toledo star Ryan Rollins got a START for Milwaukee a few days ago against Toronto. He had a pretty solid stat line for the Bucks, 12 points (4 made threes), 5 boards, 3 assists, 5 steals.

The good news though is him and his wife are expecting their first child together. They posted it on instagram.

Hate to hear that for Jason (the injury, not his kid, LOL--big congrats on the latter!)

Cut by Utah, but the article intimates they’re opening to bringing him back when he’s healthy.
