In basketball, they always seem overhyped and underperforming, particularly at tournament time, and their fans always believe the hype. But ... There is no guarantee the RedHawks, or any other MAC team, would be doing the same. Pure speculation. Had Kent lost, Miami/MAC teams would all say they would have done better. I get it. But credit Kent for at least putting blinders on and getting the job done on the road vs. two teams ranked significantly higher per Kenpom. St. Bonaventure has dropped significantly since, outside the Top 100, while Stanford is still in the 80s. Kent is lowest ranked team (105) still in the NIT field. It's not the Bobcats, or Miami but winning ... even Off-Broadway ... if good for the MAC. Interesting ... the MAC's best team (Akron) did not defeat one team ranked ahead of them (Kenpom/NET) but knocked out almost every team below them.
