It's back in official capacity for the second year. I will be tracking and rating every dunk by Ohio (with video, if possible!) throughout the season. Why? Because 1) Dunks are fun 2) I'm an obsessive dork and 3) They can reveal some things about your team such as an effective offense, opportunities created in transition, and the level of athlete we recruit.

RATING SYSTEM:
*Soft dunks or weird dunks. Maybe they don't go in so cleanly. These generally don't get much extra reaction from the crowd.
**Nice and easy. No questioning it was a throwdown, but probably not contested nor much style. Most dunks are two stars.
***A little more going for them and will pop the crowd some. Maybe it was contested. Maybe it was extra ath-a-letic. Maybe it was a huge moment in the game.
****These babies get on Sportscenter. Ayden Evans at Buffalo. Doug Taylor and-1 alley at Ball State. Preston tip slam
*****Program all-timer and would not be out of place on a national "top dunks of the year" highlight vid. These are incredibly rare - I've been a fan of Ohio for 20 years and we do not have a 5-star dunk in that time.

vs. Wright State:
Kiir Kuany halfcourt two hander **. Then he got beat on a baseline spin for Wright's one dunk of the night.

Season totals:
Kuany - 1

I love this and it's got to be the one running post with little argument and controversy. Look forward to seeing after games what scores some of the dunks receive. However, this is my petition for the DeVaughn Washington dunk from the Cooper feed against Georgetown for a 5 star. Probably only a 4 star in quality, but I feel that its timing and the stage it happened raise it. Plus, I believe it was the cover of the USA Today for the first round of the NCAA tournament. I also think I made this petition in the past, but man I loved that dunk.

EDIT: Also, what would you put the odds for who will have the most dunks for OHIO this year? Is Hadaway the favorite?

My thing with the Devaughn dunk is that if it were a November game against like Coppin State, it's a ***. The stage of the NCAA tourney can elevate it to a **** but not two slots. You can't find a youtube of it. In fact, any account of biggest upsets in tourney history seems to forget that game altogether.

I'll take Hadaway this year. He probably would have led last year if he hadn't been injured.

Can I partly hijack this dunk tracker here in the beginning and ask everyone who their favorite Bobcat dunker has been since 2000 (the last 25 years)?

Some of mine in no particular order:
Jon Smith
DeVaughn Washington
Mo Ndour
Doug Taylor
Patrick Flomo
Kevin Mickle

Perhaps some nostalgia bias as I was a student, but it will always be Flomo for me. He just had an electric explosiveness around the rim on both ends.

Looking forward to another year of Shab's Dunk Tracker.

I agree on Flomo. Really liked this explosiveness and his style.

Though not in the requested timeframe, the two best dunkers I ever saw on the hardwood in Athens were Don Hilt and Nate Thurmond.
