Effective immediately. That's never good.

Something wrong here. He's at the height of his career...10-15 good years left.

Health? Program infractions? Mistress? Sexual harassment?

Wow, I hope it's nothing medical here. Sorry to see him retire, especially considering how much he has done throughout his career

Portal. NIL. It’s a whole different game. Jay Wright did the same.

With the cluster-eff that is now mercenaries of free agents in college sports, specifically for P4/5 schools, I'm actually a bit surprised it took him this long to hang it up. There's no way he was enjoying the current process.

Class act. Hope there are no other extenuating circumstances such as health and he has success in his next phase.

This pretty well sums it up for him and how quite a few fans feel today.

With the current state of college athletics, you are going to see more and more of the Tony Bennet's getting out of the game between ages of 50-55. They don't need the money or want the aggravation of NIL/Portal.

Agreed. Also makes you wonder if one Jeff Boals might just be content with his paycheck to balance the headaches/enjoyment and stay at Ohio rather than chasing P4 dreams. Grass isn't always greener, ask Tony Bennett.
