Rating scale
1 - soft dunks or weird dunks. May get no extra reaction from the crowd
2 - nice and easy. Thrown down with some authority but probably not contested
3 - a little something extra and will elicit some ohhhh's from the crowd plus special mention on this board
4 - Likely a Sportscenter Top 10
5 - Program all-timer and would make a national end of year highlight video

11/4/2024 vs James Madison

Hadaway halfcourt set dunk - 2 rating

Season totals:
Hadaway - 1

Team - 1

vs UNC Asheville

Evans half court: rate it 2 BORTZes
Clayton half court: 2 BORTZes
Clayton fast break cherry pick technically traveled: 2 BORTZes

Hadaway and Searls attempted to dunk but were fouled.

Cool to have your first collegiate points be a dunk. Evans joins Devaughn Washington in that club.

Season totals:
Clayton - 2
Evans - 1
Hadaway - 1

Team: 4

Nice work. I realized yesterday that I take special note of Bobcat dunks because of you and rate them in my head. Has Elmore ever dunked? He had a breakaway and took the layup which made me wonder if he can do it.

Elmore has not dunked at Ohio. He does have a few on his high school tape.

Agreed, this makes watching the games more fun. I had the same thought as Andrew, after each dunk I was giving it a ranking based on shabamon's system. I also had the same question about Elmore not throwing it down. I couldn't remember anytime he had dunked at Ohio.

I don't recall any against ISU or Memphis

vs MTSU:
Hadaway fast break: 2
Clayton fast break: 1 - not a throwdown. More of a drop-in.
Clayton half court two hander: 2

Hadaway has a tendency when he dunks with two hands on a fast break to let go with one hand, swing, and grab the rim again with that hand. He got teched for it at Buffalo last year.

Season totals:
Clayton - 4
Hadaway - 2
Evans - 1

Team: 7

These aren't fun to do after losses, but the show must go on.

Vs Bobby Mo

Clayton half court alley oop: 2
Hadaway on the breakaway: 2

Almost didn't think Sheldon was going to throw the lob to Clayton. That dime down the court from EE to Hadaway was Cooper-esque.

Season totals:

Clayton 7
Hadaway 3
Evans 1

Team 11

Nothing rates above a 2 yet. Nothing has popped the crowd. Need a guard to get a couple. Miss the days of Fears and Troutman as guards getting "pick-6" dunks.

I thought you might go 3 with Clayton. The bench went nuts and if we had a full student section it would have ignited. The breakaway over a defender oop is pretty special, but also it seemed Clayton had to really extend for it and still made it look pretty in the end.

The defender did challenge a little. I'd go 3 if it was called a foul.

vs Morehead State

Searls in the halfcourt and DEFINITELY should have been tech'd for the pull-up: 2/5
Hadaway fast break alley: 3/5

Fast break alleys are awesome and that was not an easy play.

Season totals:

Clayton 7
Hadaway 4
Evans 1

I didn't get to watch the Marshall game, but the box score says Clayton got a dunk. The inbound alley oop that he threw at the rim and luckily rolled in does not count.

Hadaway off a baseline inbound with the whole defense falling asleep: 2/5
Evans garbage time fast break: 2/5

If Pav could throw an accurate lob, Clayton would have had a real fun fast break oop.

Clayton off some great fast break passing: 3/5. Met the defender chest to chest. If that were at home the Convo would have roared.
Hadaway at the end of a press break: 2/5

Evans with the best of the year tonight, anxious to see if Shab gives it consideration for a 4.

@Buffalo

-Evans and-1 alley in the front court: 4/5
-Clayton cherry picking: 2/5

Yes, the Evans oop is the best dunk of the campaign to this point, but it would shock me to see it on the SC Top 10 tomorrow. A 3 gets me off my seat and makes me go "ooooooohh". A 4 makes me run to the next room yelling cuss words the whole house can hear. Evans doesn't rise to the level of Doug Taylor at Ball State, or the Preston tip slam, or Tillman going facial at Maryland. If Clayton had thrown down that head-hunting attempt on the fast break when he got fouled, that would have been a 4.

EDIT: Okay it made Sportscenter on a busy basketball night. It's a 4.

Nicol could have thrown an oop or two at Evans late when Buffalo was still pressing, but passed on it. Come on, throw the lob.

Season totals:

Clayton 10
Hadaway 7
Evans 5
Searls 1

What impressed me about the dunk was the oop was off line and could have been easily botched, and the defender was disruptive and then outright fouled him and yet thru all that he flushed it clean. He could've added a bit of sauce to it and maybe a scream or flex after, but maybe that just isn't his style.

Also, his dunks per minute is impressive. Maybe just random in a small sample size or maybe a prolific dunker on our hands?

vs NIU

Clayton alley oop in the frontcourt: 2/5
Hadaway power dribble to the goal from knocking down the defender: 2/5. Get your weight up

Several mistimed lobs. Officials could have passed on the call where Sheldon drove to the lane and dished to Hadaway cutting in for the jam. This could have been a five dunk game.

Clayton 11
Hadaway 8
Evans 5

vs Ball State

Well that game will boost the dunks per game average

Hadaway tip dunk/poor man's Blake Griffin over Pau Gasol: 3/5
AJ Brown on a great backdoor cut in the front court: 2/5
Vic Searls with some Go Go Gadget feet in the front court: 2/5
Elijah Elliott with the steal-drive-slam Jeremy Fears impression: 3/5
Clayton coast to coast two hands: 3/5

Our first tip dunk of the year (the play by play calls it a jump shot. what?) Our first game where a guard dunks and there were two. AJB with his first of the year and EE with the first of his career.

Did Shereef get any rim on his pick six?

Season totals:

Clayton 12
Hadaway 9
Evans 5
Searls 2
Brown: 1
Elliott: 1

Team 30

We have gone full seasons without hitting 30 dunks, believe it or not.

BTW, I may be wrong, I feel like I am, but this may be the first time since Dad's Weekend 2005 that five different Cats got a dunk in a game.

With your memory, shabamon, I doubt if you're wrong.

My less stellar memory recalls a baseline drive and dunk by AJB in, I believe, his first game ever in the Convo. I remember how impressed I was with the athleticism of this freshman. However, several years and injuries later, I began wondering if somehow AJB had lost his hops and strength around the rim with no dunks this year until tonight (and I don't believe many if any last year). Good to see him throw one down tonight.
