According to everything I've read the gift was $1 M.

O.U. already gave the project the Go Ahead.
The current project cost is $3.M
So if O.U. can't meet its fundraising, who pays the difference ?

At least they aren't proposing a dome over it.

They've been nomads. Negotiating with athletics to practice where they can between sports teams' practice/game schedules. It means locations and sometimes practice times can change on a daily basis.

This will be a better solution for the 110 AND athletics. And it'll bring a lot of stability to the 110.

They both marched from 2000-2004. Shawn Hurley was the Field Commander in 2004.

If LinkedIn is up-to-date, it appears he's worked at Apple for the last ~12 years. I'd assume a lot of equity compensation, and high level engineers in the Bay Area at companies like that can have annual total comp packages in the 800k - 1m range.

This is going on a field across from the credit union that sits virtually empty except for the throwing events for track.

Before Pruitt became FH only, there, or Pedwn, now that Pruitt has no lines it�s Peden only, and they have to compete with inter murals. You also have equipment storage, which they haven�t real had.

I would hope they surveyed the area before decided to move forward.

Not that complicated.
Civil Engineering students could do it as a lab in their Land Surveying Class.

I did a quick measurement, using Google imagery.
From the soccer facility to the throws area is about 350 feet.
From Shafer St to the west tree line is about 370 feet.

Assuming it's roughly just a football field plus, it should fit.

Thing is, there are a lot of inherent problems with trying to use any type of aerial photograph to determine dimensions.

I do a lot of expert testimony in Land Surveying Cases.
That includes analyzing both terrestrial and aerial photographs and maps.

The scale of an aerial photograph is only accurate directly under the camera.
As you get away from that, the image "spreads" (distorts).
Depending on the height of the camera, that "spread" can be several feet.

You can correct this by creating what is known as a "mosaic".
But that is involved and expensive.

As far as I know, no web site does this.

So you really can't try to determine, with any degree of accuracy, dimensions
using something like Google maps.

As a geographer, I am used to being told that I am ignorant by engineers.

Google imagery is indeed created from a mosaic of images that are orthorectified (typically using the USGS 10 meter DEM (digital elevation model) not great, but still pretty good).

If a user brings the images into software that allows for the application of a coordinate system (in this case, ArcGIS and NAD_1983_2011_StatePlane_Ohio_South_FIPS_3402_Ft_US), most spatial distortion is removed.

I used this exact method to measure Solich Field: 300.2 feet x 159.9 feet). No degree of accuracy? Not too bad.

I have no idea of the exact space allocated within the lot mentioned (so my measurements could be way off, but not because of inaccuracy of data). However, it seems to be big enough for a football field.

GIS has inherent accuracy issues.
I just had to testify against a geodesist who tried to use GIS as the basis
of his opinion on a boundary dispute.
In NJ only a licensed Land Surveyor can establish boundaries.
So he wasn't even allowed to testify as an expert.

My thought on this is if you are in the band you'll be motivated to live on the west side of Athens in closer proximity to the practice field. The university is in directly promoting gentrification of the west side all the projects coming in over there. Its a good idea prime real estate close to campus. They should move the fairgrounds out of there and develop that site.

I do not recall a band formation that extended past the 30 yardline. That means a 40 yard field would be a minimum�double it to 80 yards and it would seem to be plenty of marching space. Just make sure the lines are numbered from the middle 50 yardline down to the ten so that the marchers have court sense. Double up some of the lines so one side looks like the endzone.

Wonderful generosity by the benefactors.
