Any bets on criteria used? Strong academics? I'll go with warm weather.

He's moving on in February. Wonder who's going to live in that house that is rented through the end of June.

Who do you think they'll make the interim president? Alan, are you available?

I am and if he (the governor) signs it, I will urge the OU Board of Trustees to not permit concealed carry on campus. I'd also get rid of a bunch of the administrative bloat that has happened over our 37 years here in Athens. And after watching the Iona game today, I'd install modern scoreboards in the Convo in conjunction with new hand dryers. The first would appease the left, the second would appease the right. The third would make everyone happy.

Alan, speaking as a dad with a daughter who will begin her college career in Athens next fall, you have my vote.

Unless the new law specifically gives universities the right to "opt out," I don't think the Board of Trustees would have that legal right. I haven't read the details on the law so I don't know whether or not it has that kind of local control provisions.

It does. That's what the NRA isn't happy about according to today's paper.

The NRA is aware of certain universities in Ohio that will not sign off on allowing concealed carry on campus. Because of this, the NRA is not completely satisfied with this bill. Ohio and Ohio State fall into this category.

These two universities are also among the hundreds of universities across the country that will support the continuation and expansion of Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals programs due to Trump's statements about immigration during his campaign.

Still a month away from the presidential inauguration and its already heating up across the country.

Of course universities will serve as sanctuaries. The international students of which you speak are cash cows. They or their governments pay full boat for them to attend.

Some Rutgers students and faculty want the school's President to formally name it a "Sanctuary University" for illegal immigrants,so this issue has gotten a lot of press out here lately.

New Jersey also has 2 "Sanctuary Cities".

The issue that has been raised is that, particularly as the publicly funded State university, how can Rutgers somehow exempt itself from following the law.

Two questions...

Any scoop on where McDavis is heading?

Alan, your position on alcohol sales at athletic events(including baseball.) When I say alcohol, I mean beer. We know your position on wine.

That's a real good question. To say that I was able to enjoy a cold beverage in the end zone tent this year just because I decided to and was able to pay the requisite amount for entrance and then deny that privilge to other ticket buyers would be hypocritical in my mind. I did enjoy that the four Saturday afternoons I watched the game from the end zone tent. What I labor with is the possible thought that we need to serve beer to get people to come to games.

My direct answer MedianCat - I would be in favor of it as long as those buying the beer continue to act responsibly and we have family friendly seating areas for those who choose not to expose their children to the excesses that I have often seen at pro football games.

Its a shame to see the McDavis tenure fizzle out like it has since the Wharton deal after doing so much for the university. The focus for the next president needs to be to get the admissions up and improve the rankings.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl

Do you think he was pressured to leave by the board, or do you think this resignation was totally voluntary? At first, as I recall, it was announced as a retirement, but then he started to look for other jobs -- including university president jobs -- which looked more like he wasn't retiring but trying to move on. At this juncture, I have more questions than answers about this whole situation.

Another possibility is he feels backstabbed by the board who made the arrangement for the housing and the fallout that sullied his reputation. I don't believe the board pushed him out. They've given him generous raises each year and philosophically close on many issues.

My question is, is there any movement on that investigation and could this be a preimpetitive move before findings are released?

Occam's razor. After a dozen+ years he decided to do something else. I'd ask why everything has to be a conspiracy but I am posting to an online message board in America in the 20-teens.

I am 100% confident that if the McDavis' weren't so damn nice, they would be riding off into the sunset flying double freedom rockets to faculty and staff and telling them all to go screw.

And I am 100% confident that they are thrilled to be leaving Athens, are doing so on their own volition, and we will not see much of them in Athens for the remainder of their days on earth.

So I think we should all be thankful for their service to OHIO and leave them be.
