| The Passsing of a True Bobcat |

I was sad to learn over the weekend of the death of George Voinovich. Our paths crossed several times over the years. I always held him in high regard and found him to be an honest person who tried to do the best job he possible could with any given task. I still remember my first contact with George. I was assigned to write a story about him for OU Today, an alumni newsletter, when he was elected lieutenant governor in the fall of 1978. When I introduced myself to him on the phone his first words to me were, "George Voinovich is a Bobcat!" In our subsequent meetings, some in person and some on the phone, he always continued to express his deep devotion to Ohio University. We've lost one of our own, and I'm sure all of Bobcat Nation will join me in mourning his passing.
