They'll probably hire their next basketball coach for more than they were paying HuggyBear!

Not going to happen. Hired an assistant as an interim for th 23-24 school year.

What got me though is their tuition cost which is only 72% of what we charge.

Not for the interim guy, I'm talking about the permanent hire, which looks like it'll be next spring.

And who really cares other than a Marshall grad in search of the next shuttle bus to the next MAC championship game in Detroit.

giacomo cares, and will consider that obscene. I was basically trying to get a rise out of him with that statement since the obscene nature of coaches salaries is his pet peeve.

FYI: If facts matter to you, I'm not a Marshall graduate. All three degrees are from Buckeye State institutions: OHIO, A&M, and then OHIO again. My wife did receive her master's degree in English at Marshall while I was teaching there. Her undergraduate degree is from OHIO. She's also a member of Varsity OHIO.

WVU's challenges recruiting students are going to cut into other schools trying to cut into the West Virginia pool of applicants. Particularly when the in-state requirement is 2.0 and 19 on the ACT for WVU which means they'll accept anyone in-state that wants to apply there. Marshall stands to be most impacted by this.

Undergraduate enrollment:

West Virginina 21,086
Marshall 7,962

That doesn't leave Marshall with very much as anyone can get into Marshall and anyone who can get into Marshall can get into WVU. They are closer to Charleston than WVU and having a smaller student populuation for some is a plus. WVU campus is so hilly. WVU is a P5 but Marshall has one of the larger G5 athletic followings plus more centrally located FB stadium.

Ohio offering in-state tuition to West Virginia residents isn't going to have a lot of impact when their in-state tuition is far lower in the race to the bottom. Ohio is close to Parkersburgh one of the biggest markets in WV which helps.

So you're slamming my wife? Not very gentlemanly, but I wouldn't expect that from you, anyway, so I'm not really upset because you met expectations, as usual.
