Going to Durham to face Penn.  High Point (they employ former manager Brian Weigel) and Duke in the other match.  The Bobcats beat the Devils 3-0 last year.  This is probably as good a draw as we could ask for.

We got a great draw. We should be favorites against Penn, and if  we win, and if Duke wins, we've got a winnable game, although we'll be underdogs on their court.

The RPI's of the 4 in Durham:

Duke 13
OHIO 80
Penn 88
High Point 147

The polls don't have Duke nearly that high, ranking them 21 (Pablo), 27 (AVCA), and 30 (Rich Kern). The way OHIO played in Toledo makes us much better than our ranking. Consider these rankings: Western Michigan 50, Ball 51, NIU 60, and Eastern 79.

Now it's all about Penn. Two years ago, we were looking at playing Penn St. on their home court, but we forget to take care of business with Yale. There was no way we were coming out of that round at Penn State,  but this year is different.

Beat Penn!

Seems like a pretty good draw to me.  Penn should be winnable if we play to our potential, and if we're really clicking, I think we could come out of that sub-region.  Should be fun!  Anyone have any idea about availability of web streaming from Durham?

The match is at 5:00 which is not surprising.

Penn is 0-2 against NCAA participants Cal St. Fullerton. & UCLA.

Ohio is 3-5 with wins against Texas-San Antonio, Missouri State and North Dakota State and losses to Louisville, Northwestern, Dayton, Tennessee, & North Carolina.

The path looks possible to go far this year. Don't prematurely celebrate like last year with Mich. or get too panic with Penn State while playing Yale like the year before. One point at a time and stay focused, gals. Write another history for OHIO.

Video quality is quite good!  Looking forward to this match!

EDIT:

OHIO takes the first set, 25-21

Sounds like there are at least a few loud Bobcat supporters in attendance -- and they're playing Stand Up and Cheer over the PA!

Second set was pretty close throughout, but OHIO pulled it out, 27-25.

If we win, any chance the alumni  band gets there Sunday?

Pretty sure they are there, but the second game is tomorrow not Sunday. Just not sure the regulations on playing songs other than the fight song.

EDIT: Apparently I'm wrong, alumni band was not able to get enough people to confirm so they are not there. Hard to imagine they would be there tomorrow.

Some mental toughness there!  Shrug off a set point to take the second.

Grr, I hear Dick Enberg.

We have some musical representation there.  I'm hearing Stand Up and Cheer at the breaks.

Same reason you hear Penn's fight song every other time out.

Last year in Ann Arbor, all that was regulated was that the time outs were altered to each side.  Didn't matter what you played.  For example, when we played ND, they didn't have a band, so every other time out we could not play.  Against Michigan, they had a band, we just took turns.  And the song selection was up to us.  Since no bands were there, they just played each others fight songs over the PA.

And by the way, IF we make it to the Sweet 16, we will be trying again to get a band to Penn St.

Dukies is definitely a winnable  team but nothing to take for granted. They are waiting to revenge us for sure.

They are a good blocking team with a 6-5 girl.
Our DSs are gonna have to be ready to dig in all swings.
Our slides and backrow attacks have to be scoring.  Katie and Lexie's speed would be a key factor. Sue and Mandy keep your court awareness and remain in the same level as today.

The match with Dayton should have prepared us well for this type of teams. Let's own their court, gals. Ohio is a big halloween town, so we are not afraid of any 'Devils'.
