What a stud. I saw him score 29 points AND dish out 11 assists. He's smallish but man was he good. When they did stop him he dished it off perfectly. People talk about liking Butler but entering this year and watching him this year he always looked athletic but a bit soft. Carry is not soft by any means and really would be a solid pickup. It is actually the state's oldest institution of higher education -- founded in 1837 before West Virginia was a state. I'm not sure if any other school in the Mountain State is older than the state itself. OK, I checked it out, and I'm embarrassed to say that I had forgotten that Marshall was also founded in 1837, but later in the year than the March 30th founding date of West Liberty. The only other school that I could find that was founded before the state came into being was Bethany College, founded in 1840. In fact, in reading further, I discovered that the Virginia Legislature actually chartered "Marshall College," at one point, but at that time it was more an academy than a real college. I have an hour lecture I can give on the facts involving the creation of the State of West Virginia, but I will spare you details, I will just say that the oft-stated, "We seceded from the seceders," is not correct. The separation was done in a completely legal way. The key to understanding this is to realize the legislature meeting in Wheeling, known as the restored government of the State of Virginia, requested the partition of the state. One of us ended being a chemistry professor at Ohio. The weird thing is only 3 from my entire class went there ( most of the rest WVU or Marshall) and non of us even knew about until it happened.
