Don't shoot the messenger but Owens may be a soft verbal folks.  I'm in Florida covering a basketball showcase in South Florida and while talking to Owens I brought up his commitment to Ohio and he said that he's going to Ohio University "as of right now". I asked him if that meant that he has reopened and he said that he hasn't reopened but that he never stopped talking to other schools.

The move from Baltimore to a basketball factory in Florida was the first sign that this could be a reality.

https://twitter.com/SpencerPulliam

Says he is still committed to OHIO, grew some, now 6'10.  We will know more in about a month when the early signing period starts.

https://twitter.com/RussHoops  My guess this is the twitter for the thread starter.

10 days til the early signing period.

I am anxious but hopeful. The fact that he committed after talking to Roderick McDavis makes me feel this is a firm commitment. Rod is the man.

Some tweets online said his wingspan is 7'4"

Please lock this thread until he signs.  I almost have a heart attack every time I see there's a new post here.

Doesn't anybody understand that these commitments are not commitments until the LOI is signed?  Most kids have no idea what the word "commitment" means.  When they say they have "verbally committed" to a given school, they mean that that is their preference at the moment.  When is the last time a kid who committed said at the same time, "I know there is nothing I can do to force other schools and coaches from contacting me, but I will from this point forward not answer any calls from coaches and delete all texts and emails before reading them."

By the way, OSU got burned today by a kid from Nevada who "committed" last week.   Today he signed an LOI to BYU.

It probably happens more often than you think.

I think everybody who has posted in this thread realizes a verbal isn't firm.... That is exactly why everyone has posted here, to try to find out if Tariq is going to actually sign.

Been monitoring twitter, haven't seen anything about him signing. The guy who originally tweeted yesterday is a college hoops journalist for UNC and Maryland.
