Still one scholarship left, and the consensus is that it has to be for a big man. But who is left?

From our Recruiting Database:

Tarvin Gaines 6-7, 230 PF
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player...
Would be a juco transfer. I don't like this because it would give us six juniors next year. Very unbalanced team.

Paul Honigford 6-8. 200 PF
He has given a verbal to Division 2 Ashland, and as discussed here (http://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromPa...) he might not have any offers from D1 schools at the moment, even though ESPN still has him rated rather high (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...)

From ESPN Recruiting Database - Realistic undeclared PF/C from Groce's target recruiting area (Ohio/Indiana/Illinois)

Casey Carroll
6-8, 200 PF
From Youngstown Ohio, but doing a year of Prep School at Kiski in PA. Various reports read anywhere from "should be a nice d2 player" to "will be a mid to high division 1 player" No known offers, ESPN page here: (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pro...)

Jared Bryant
6-7, 200 PF
From Roger Bacon HS, no known D1 offers. ESPN page here: (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...)

Antonio (Tony) Wilson 6-8, 190 PF
From Fort Wayne, IN. No known offers but heavy interest from Eastern Michigan, Butler, and Wright State. ESPN: (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...) Yahoo: (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player...)

Isaiah Hill 6'11, 280 C
From T.C. Howe School in Indy. Not rated very high, but his size raises some eyebrows. Maybe he is worth a look. ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...
Yahoo: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player...

Max Bielfeldt
6-8, 220 PF
From Notre Dame High School in Peoria, IL. Undecided but he has plenty of offers from mid-majors like Illinois-Chicago, Ball State, Wright State, and Western Michigan. Looks like a promising player, hopefully its not too late to throw our name in the mix. ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...
Yahoo: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player...

James Farr 6-8, 200 PF
From Evanston, IL. Mobile PF with a good shooting touch. Offer from Boise State, undecided. ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/pla...
Yahoo: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player...

Thats it for now, if anyone has any other leads, post em.

Another option that was thrown around in the chat tonight is holding onto the scholarship in case Alex Kellogg decides to return for his Senior season.

In the weekly Team Report on Yahoo, which I believe Arkley writes, it mentions the Bobcats are expected to sign a JUCO big man after the completion of the season.  I'm not sure if that is speculation on his part or based on some facts unknown to all of us.  Certainly makes for an unbalanced class if he only has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

We've been losing about 2 a year through attrition so I wouldn't worry about how many Juniors are on paper. We are going from desperation in not have enough guards to way too many to make everyone happy. We don't lose any guards and gain 3 next year so a couple are not going to be happy.

If a JUCO big man signs and it helps us become a force for two (or three...JUCOS can sign after their freshman year. Guy I graduated high school with, Mark Dorris, played one year at JUCO before transferring to Marshall) years before a big drop off after the class graduates, I'll take it. Signing a JUCO will put six players in a class whether he comes to us as a junior or sophomore.

Wasn't Antonio Chatman a sophomore his first year with us?

Or Coleman...

I've seen crazier things happen.

That would make PhiTau74 happy...another guard.

I'd be happy but the guards wouldn't. Coleman would have to take Freeman's slot at a 3.

I wonder if we're recruiting Larry Nance Jr.
