As we head into the district semi-finals this weekend, the all Central District teams have been released. Congrats to Bobcats signee Stevie Taylor on being named to the first team. He is now in line for possible all-state honors.

Other members of the first team include: Matt Bingaya/Delaware Hayes ( 6-4 junior guard  who is drawing lots of D-1 interest), guard Trey Burke/Northland (Michigan), guard Traevon Jackson /Westerville South (Wisconsin) and guard Brian Sullivan/Upper Arlington (M#$%i).

Burke was named district player of the year and I think that gives him an automatic spot on the all state first team.Veteran Pete Liptrap was named coach of the year.

BTW - Stevie's Gahanna Lincoln Lions (#4 seed) take on the Westerville North Warriors (#9 seed) at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday night at the Fairgrounds Coliseum. It's part of a doubleheader and the 7 p.m. game is a another good match-up featuring #6 Columbus Walnut Ridge and #7 Dublin Coffman.

Stevie sat next to my son and I at the 'Kron game last night. Great to meet him - seems like a very nice and great young man - can't wait to see him in Green & White. He was taking lot's of pictures during the Senior recognition ceremonies. Pretty cool - they won't even be here next year but he was obviously excited to be a part of their getting recognition.

Would love to get Marion-Franklin's Elijah Macon, who earned second-team all-district. The 6-8 junior committed to West Virginia as a freshman but has opened up the recruiting process again. Not sure if Ohio is in the picture or if we'll even have a scholarship with no seniors on the roster next year. Northland also has a couple of 6-8 juniors who might be worth a look.

Not at all surprised an Upper Arlington kid is going to Miami.  Totally appropriate.

Brian Sullivan's game is a great fit with M#$%i's approach.  He is quick and has a very quick release on his jump shots. He's the career leader in made three pointers at UA. Fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor. Like most incoming freshmen, he'll need to get a lot stronger.

He has a couple brothers playing small college ball. Chris is one of the leading sharpshooters in D-III at Wittenberg. Kevin is over at DePauw. Their dad, Greg, has a background in coaching and is a professor over at Otterbein.

Sullivan's high school coach, Tim Casey, was a two-time All-American and D-III national player of the year while playing for Larry Hunter at Wittenberg. Upper Arlington will play the fast break when it's available, but typically play at a deliberate pace and slow down opposing offenses.

I expect him to be a worthy adversary.
