Check out this article from UConn's student newspaper:
www.dailycampus.com/commentary/editorial-student-section-needs-more-sportsmanship-1.2011403#
This is possibly the dumbest sports-related piece ever written. The nameless author argues that students in the Student Section during basketball games are being too loud and, more importantly, too rude--displaying utter lack of sportsmanship.
The student section is guilty of things like:
"[...] turn[ing] their backs to the court, yelling "Sucks!" after each player's name is announced. This creates the effect of the sentence being, for example, "Marshon Brooks sucks!" – which is not only rude, but completely false."
You can discuss this as it relates to the O Zone when Ohio plays Kent, Akron, and Miami. You can also discuss how much macaroni this author eats in his parents' basement.

This is one of the silliest things I've ever read.
If I end up in the Hartford area next winter, I'll be sure to stop by and yell with the students. Good Lord.

That's really funny.

THe yelling at a basketball game is actually important to the atmosphere of the game, both to help the fans enjoy the game and to make it hard for the opposing team. The head coach of miami once said something like
"I have played against crowds that are incredibly large, but none are as hostile as the O zone"
I say yell on!

The first part of this is fulfilled. Now it's time to follow through, Alex.

| Good point. Looks like they have two games during my present "weekend" (Wed/Thurs) in the XL Center this season. Maine and Fairfield, unless I decide to head to Storrs for the day, but it's a bit further out... They have Harvard there this season though, which might be fun (though I might end up yelling AT UCONN).

It's true. The OU student section is about the biggest joke I've ever seen. They have to be loud and draw attention away from the less than stellar team they put out on the court every year. They are always rude and show a true lack of sportsmanship. GO REDHAWKS!

To be fair, there was a sale at Hollister that night.
