If he isn’t enrolled, then he doesn’t have to re-enter the portal. I don’t believe these portal “signings” are binding NLI’s.

Upon decommiting, he said we were a great program with great people, so I don’t think it had anything to do with being recruited over or a competition thing. These days, who knows. Perhaps he didn’t get accepted into the program he wanted, there were problems with classes transferring, or someone texted him and waved a bag of cash his way. Doesn’t really matter, I guess. Best of luck to him.

Eligibility issues

Really?
I think he was eligible for more money at ole miss

Hartrup to Ole Miss

Let's see if he actually sees the field. Ole Miss is returning its #1 & #3 WRs, and has a few other transfers coming from South Carolina & FAU.

https://x.com/IzaiahHartrup/status/1796641817892389347/ph...

Same day Jordan Smart also transferring to Ole Miss tonight for WR7.

Neither of these kids will see the field unless it’s from the sideline.

Another DE transfer. Sinn Brennan from San Diego State.

I would assume the new DE coach Mattix had something to do with this.

Only played 7 career games in HS was he injured or something? Know someone on staff?

15 TD 2 INT, 1400 yards passing, 63% cmp

Saw he threw 4 TD in a playoff game last season vs Hilliard, maybe he has good tape.

I don’t believe those stats are accurate. Maxpreps rarely is. 41 TDs his senior year and played in the Ohio North-South game, and threw two TDs in that game.

https://x.com/papas_matthew/status/1723369299534839939?s=...

He also committed on March 20th, so my educated guess is he’s a preferred walk-on.

They don’t really run it. They just rely on contributors to add to it. It’s like a really bad Wikipedia for HS sports.

Exactly, every school is supposed to have someone input schedules and results.

Couple new names. Jaylen Johnson, DB from Memphis, but also spent two seasons at Ohio State. Went to Cincinnati Lasalle and was the ninth ranked recruit in the Ohio 2021 class. Just hasn't played much in three years. Should be two years of eligibility. Signed.

LJ Shumpert, DB from NW Mississippi CC. Not much in the stats department.

Hale, Maldonado, and Brennan are signed.

Shumpert coming from the same Community College as CB Tank Pearson.

Kinda expected to lose a guy to Memphis, not get one from Memphis.

NW Miss JC also produced Rayyn Buell and Jacoby Jones so I think we are in a “I’ll take your word for it,” with that staff.

That Mississippi JUCO conference always seems to produce some high major athletes. I hope the portal doesn't eventually kill the Last Chance U schools.

Just like everyone else, they will have to adapt, but while it will change things for them, I don't think it will kill them. The whole NIL situation could very well lead to a dramatic increase in the number of people trying to play after high school, trying to work their way up from nothing to getting into the system.

My best guess is that all players want the NIL money from P5, so, each year, most of the best players in G5 will transfer up, displacing some freshmen who previously would have gotten a free pass (scholarship). G5 will become a crossroads, having better freshmen to give scholarships to, taking the best players from FCS/JUCO, plus some players moving down from P5, but losing their best players to P5. G5 teams will have to reconstitute (more extreme than rebuilding) every year.

At the lower end, NIL should mean that more players will be wanting to find their way into the system, meaning a lot of players starting at FCS or lower, or JUCO. The best, however, may look to move up as quickly as possible, hoping to move FCS->G5->P5, JUCO->G5->P5, or even D2->FCS->G5->P5.

Yessir. He started out with the HerbalLife and pivoted into acting. Been on several shows as well too. Repping the receivers well.

Fun fact: He could do a really good impression of our WR coach. He would do it sometimes in practice and meetings. Good dude!

I have always found it a bit fascinating how few football playing JUCO schools there are in Ohio. I believe Hocking College is the only team active currently?

Here's a list I found: https://www.ncsasports.org/football/junior-colleges

Looks like there are a lot in Mississippi, the Great Plains (Kansas, Iowa etc.) or out in Texas and California. CA and TX make sense given the high populations and number of potential players available. Looks like a few pockets in the Northeast, too with PA and NY having a decent number of programs

Just curious as to why JUCO football is not really a thing in Ohio. Likely a Board of Regents and funding call?

We have a large amount of D1 schools, could that play into it also?
