You know, I've often thought that the perfect name for the coach of a winless high school football team is Owen Tenn.

The MAC could still have eight teams going to bowl games. It has six and is guaranteed at least one more because EMU is at WMU on November 30. Each team has five wins. WMU is likely to get to six at CMU this week but EMU has a tougher row to hoe vs Buffalo.

I'm rooting for general chaos in the standings. Go CMU, NIU, EMU, Ball St, and of course, Ohio. That would leave Ohio alone at 7-1, and only Miami and BG with 2 losses, would would make the MACC game Ohio versus the winner of Miami-BG.

We are all Huskies tonight. Gabbert has been throwing bombs deep lately. Hoping the Huskies' DBs are active tonight. 🍻

With WMU gone, it seems likely that the MACC game will be the winner of Miami-BG against the winner of Ohio-Toledo. It's almost like a playoff.....

Have I said I hate Miami in enough threads yet?

A battle of the brick rematch for the title? That could be fun.

But I'm gonna be ill if Miami makes another MACC because we blew it against them.

Ball State has the ability to disrupt things, with games remaining against both BG and Ohio. Any unexpected wins by them, and the picture will look very different.

Ball State can decide to be dangerous! I love college football! Even with all its flaws it’s a game about passion.

Buffalo is out of the MACCG picture thanks to their loss to Ohio and not playing BG or MOFO. But they can still be regular season co-champs if BSU wins out and BG beats sMOFO. It would be a four-way tie for first.

It's interesting that the top four teams are from the former East division, and it points out why the new system may be better. Under the old system, three of these teams would be sitting at home while a 5-3 or 4-4 team would be playing for the title Under the old system there were years when teams in one division had better records than the other division's champ but didn't play for the MACC because they didn't win their division due to tiebreakers, etc. Getting rid of divisions has made things a bit fairer.

There is some debate about this. Buffalo fans believe they will be in if Ball State beats BG and BG beats Miami. BG fans believe they must win out, and that merely beating Miami will not do it.

They might be right. The head-to-head records in a four-way tie don't seem to apply because the four teams didn't all play each other so the first two criteria don't seem to apply (the second criterion is a bit confusing). That would mean the winning percentage vs all common opponents would come into play. In that case, the only common opponents among the four teams would be Akron, Kent, Toledo and BSU. Buffalo would be 4-0 vs those teams, while Ohio, MOFO and BG would be 3-1 (MOFO lost to Toledo; Ohio and BG would have losses vs BSU). The next criterion is record vs common opponents based on their order of finish, which would seem to eliminate MOFO because of its loss to Toledo, which should have a better record than BSU. Finally, a tie between Ohio and BG for the other MACCG spot might come down to one of the final three criteria for breaking two-team tied, which depends on the final MAC standings and the SportSourse Analytics rankings. https://getsomemaction.com/documents/2024/9/18//2024_MAC_...

The solution for Ohio is to JUST BEAT BALL STATE.
