If anyone was curious like I was, here's how everyone from the former PAC 12 did this year in their new surroundings.

PAC
Washington State 8-5 (Lost the Holiday Bowl)
Oregon State 5-7

ACC
California 6-7 (Lost the LA Bowl)
Stanford 3-9

Big Ten
Oregon 13-1 (Big Ten Champs, lost in CFP quarters)
Washington 6-7 (Lost the Sun Bowl)
USC 7-6 (Won the Las Vegas Bowl
UCLA 5-7

Big 12
Arizona State 11-3 (Big 12 Champs, lost in CFP quarters)
Colorado 9-4 (Lost the Alamo Bowl)
Utah 5-7
Arizona 4-8

Probably a little too early to determine whether this has been an abject failure or not, especially since two of the former PAC teams made the damn playoff. But hearing it from PAC fans up here in the PNW, they hate the travel already and they hate that they've been relegated to secondary television time slots. I'm not really sure what they expected since the networks were never going to move an Ohio State or Michigan game to appease Washington and Oregon. The regionality of this sport is what makes it great. How the hell is a UCLA fan supposed to get excited about Rutgers? Their rival Cal's next closest neighbor aside from Stanford is 1,700 miles away.

Whether you're a fan of west coast football or not, the sport itself needs someone on the west coast to be good. College football was a whole hell of a lot more interesting when USC was good. Oregon has been good in this millennium and had their shot this year: unbeaten, slayed the OSU dragon, won the Big Ten and had a bye for the Rose Bowl - a place they've been many times before. And they just farted it away. Washington was a killer in the 80s-90s and good under Chris Petersen in the mid-late 2010s, but last year's team was just too overpowered against Michigan in the title game.

If they can ever get their conference fully onboard, it's no question that a new PAC would have an easier path to a playoff spot than the bretheren who left and I'd be curious to see what happens with Cal/Stanford especially if the ACC eventually implodes.

Important to note that while not a football school, gaining Gonzaga as a bargaining chip on the basketball side was a huge get for the conference.
