Just got my renewal email for season tickets. Mine went up 123%. Considering dropping them. I've had them for 20 years. The email we received before said there would be an increase but more than double?

Yesterday I called the ticket office to change my season ticket location. I was told section 121 was not available for season tickets this season. The section is contractually reserved for West Virginia.

Is Tailgreat sold out? If I have been there for a decade am I counted in the total? A call to the ticket office is incoming.

If they are going to double the prices rebuild the student section and concessions for god sakes.

Tickets are through the roof because they are going to capitalize on the WVU fans. Some of which may very well buy season tickets because it’s cheaper than one game at their place. Marshall used to do this stuff and we are finally figuring it out

If you want to capitalize on WVU fans, you could just charge more for NEW season ticket holders, and keep renewals at a small increase.

Nah because they realize random folks and the massive secondary market will feast on those low ticket prices. Make money on the one game. Then flood the market for every other game. Wait until you see secondary market StubHub for homecoming by Wednesday of.

I got lucky, my tickets just went up 68%.
I’ve always thought that the ticket prices were low relative to comparable programs, but this increase may be overdoing it a lot. When you consider a FCS game every year and midweek games that most people can’t attend, many people are just going to find other places to spend their entertainment dollars.

I’ll go out on a limb and say number of season ticket will fall 20 percent, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more. The net income result likely will be positive, but the attendance numbers based on tickets sold will likely show a dramatic decrease. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. The home field advantage may take a real hit.

Nowadays it’s just too easy for many people to pay ESPN+ $12/mo for 3 months and watch the games on TV and these price increases may be just the thing to push them to do just that. Of course that’s the way spectator sports have been going for a while anyway.

Price increases do not look as bad as what people are reporting on here. Also they've opened up the premium sections for single game day purchases.

That is between the 45 and 35 on the student side.

I'll be a bit contrarian here and say I have no issue with the cost increase.

Even after this increase, OU has the lowest average ticket cost in the MAC. And if you can't afford $100 for a season ticket, how much are you really supporting this program?

One of the more interesting adjustments is they've opened up the chairbacks on the student side for season ticket purchases. Gold section of chairbacks for $130 a season and $30 dollars for a Saturday Game ticket. Compare to Phillips Club at $260 for season ticket and $40 for Saturday home game.

The corner seats are $40 for WVU, $20 for Saturday and $10 for Midweek. Prices aren't the $5 ticket of the UConn game in 2009 or the $2.99 per season ticket family packs of yore but hardly expensive when a meal at McDonald's is close to 20 dollars anymore.

Yeah, I'm with you. A lot of folks dislike the mid-week games. There's one way to reduce mid-week games: ensure ticket sale revenue's more valuable than the TV deal.

It isn't, so there are mid-week games. But people have to spend to change that.

Correct. Sections 122 and 123 are available for season tickets. I moved to section 122.

Sections 117-120 are now the student sections.

Like I’m trying to say , the increase may be a little much for people on any kind of entertainment budget and if folks come with a couple kids its more like $400 or more. I think the tickets should go up, it’s the amount of increase that seems a little excessive to me.

As far as the $100 comment, people certainly support the program in other ways besides tickets so buying tickets may not be a true test of one’s support.

For me, the ticket price is by far the cheapest part of my attending a game behind airfare, hotel and car rental so the increase is not going to keep me from coming.

how do you rebuild? are we going to remove the concrete supports to make larger concession areas? we have no space. All things considered the concession situation has improved nicely the last few years. From options to beer to food trucks, to FINALLY putting ropes up under the stands. I don't remember any egregious wait times either.

That said, concession prices have gone up considerably, as I'm sure have costs, but hopefully a little of that money makes its way to needed projects.

Looking at pictures of the east stands, the band is in section 121. Are they moving?

The last few years the band was in 119. I have not heard where the band will be located this season

What are you thinking will drive the increase? Maybe WVU folks who will then dump the other games tickets to stubhub

If the administration really wanted to make a few extra bucks, they would charge the 6000 or 7000 Mountaineer fans 60 dollars per ticket. Those folks will pay it. It will be a much shorter drive for many of them to travel to Athens compared to Morgantown. This game should be in Morgantown and only a one or two yr deal anyway. Bring in a million plus for each game in WV. As it stands now, Ohio gets a total of 1 million for three games. Terrible deal for Ohio.

Immediate money isn't the only consideration. Giving the fans a game with a P4 team at home can have a lot of intangible values in increasing fan support, school pride and athletic atmosphere. Last year we hosted Iowa State, in deal similar to the one we have with WVU, and we pulled the upset against a very good Cyclone team. This adds to a positive school spirit that one can't attach an immediate monetary value to. However, in the long run, I'm sure it helps get more donations for athletics, not just from your average donor like you and I, but some of our bigger bucks donors.

Also when there is a clear strategy around bringing P4's into the stadium. East Carolina was able to pump up its fan support by playing NC State, WVU, VT at home in a consistent year to year manner. The longer term FB scheduling strategy at the moment doesn't seem very clear after a run of bringing in Syracuse, Iowa State, WVU and UC was under contract to appear at one point.

And because of that Iowa State win, how big a check have you written? Heck, your fellow Green and White board members are still waiting for you to buy a round. :(
