While this not an official announcement, one knowledgeable UMass fan on MACBSS thought it credible enough to post it there. Here's the link to the X post:

Don't we wish we'd have some news, or even good rumors, about this kind of move at OHIO?

I didn't know that was possible, but I've never been to UMASS, so I will take your word for it.

You have to exit the stadium and walk across a large gravel parking lot for 1960s-era restrooms and terrible concessions.

Well, our restrooms are right out of the 1930s!

Curious how long ago was that since you've been there? Not doubting you but I'm reading they've made several renovations over the last decade or so to try and get up to speed once they transitioned to FBS.

That guy who sneaks into stadiums said it was the second worst he's ever seen (I think it's UL-Monroe that's worse). This is less than a year old. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AiyWxfhHX0

I know one way for it to happen and it involves opening a wallet instead of openly wishing somebody else would.

UMass has some high roller alums that could be putting money into stadium upgrades. When Jack Welch was alive he pumped a lot of money, his own and GE's into UMass. When UMass was resurrecting it's hockey program about 20-25 years ago there was an impressive group of benefactors that pumped money into the program.

The negative for UMass is that the statehouse is controlled and dominated by BC and Harvard grads. They rarely pump anything extra into UMass. In fact they typically sabotage funding so that the state's best and brightest go to school in Boston.

It will be interesting to see how UMass does in the MAC this time. If you listen to sports talk radion you'd think the MAC is in Kansas or Iowa.
