The exodus has been facilitated by Dion Sanders. The article quotes him as saying to his "inherited" players "We're going to try to make you quit." As of Monday, 16 players have jumped ship. According to the article, Sanders brought in a bunch of transfer players to "win now" and needed to make room. If you google "bret schrotenboer usa today" the article is there. Some of these pundits are already putting Colorado and Deion in the national title game this season. Instead, I think it's going to take a couple or 3 years, if ever, for Colorado to get back into the national discussion for top teams. In the day of the transfer portal, you want to run off as many players as you can when you take over a bad program. back in the old days, you had to be selective due to the limits of new players. Today, it's a different era. I've seen differing reports, but the number of players who have left Colorado since Sanders was hired is somewhere between 50-70 players. This was not an X and O issue, this is a severe talent issue. Dion was hired to win games, not massage players and parents feelings!!!! Just look at their scores, they weren't even in any games! I don't think anyone is disputing that they needed a desperate change across the board. They were awful. And this is going to get worse before it gets better, especially with the September schedule they have and the top portion of the PAC 12 looking really solid this year. But man that seems like A LOT of players.
