They're expecting four to six FEET of lake effect snow starting Thursday and running through Sunday afternoon. Haven't seen any contingencies for Saturday's game. Same thing happened in 2014 when Kent was to play up there just before Thanksgiving and snow trained in off the lake. The game was cancelled.

Since they are still in the race for winning the east, at least until Tuesday, I’m assuming they will play the game sometime.

Could this be an equalizer and give an Akron team that wouldn't have much of a chance an actual chance?

Sunday's Browns-Bills game has been moved to Detroit. I wonder if the MAC will do something similar with this game.

I thought I heard that UB was eliminated from MAC East contention. Am I wrong about that?

Ohio needs to win their game against Bowling Green to win the East. There is no other path at this point but we are still the only team that controls their own destiny.

Bowling Green must beat Ohio and hope that Buffalo loses at least one of their two remaining games. If that happens Bowling Green and Ohio are both 6-2 and Bowling Green wins on head to head.

Buffalo must win out and hope that Bowling Green beats Ohio. If that happens then all three teams are 6-2 and 1-1 against the other two. Buffalo wins based on having a 4-1 record against the East as Ohio and Bowling Green would both also have a loss to Kent State.

If this game is cancelled and Buffalo beats Kent State and Bowling Green beats Ohio then all three teams still have two loses. If you'll recall last season in women's basketball Kent State, Western Michigan, and Bowling Green were all tied for sixth with a conference record of 10-10. Ohio was ninth with a record of 9-10 having failed to be able to make up one COVID cancellation. The MAC ruled Ohio tied for sixth as well based on losses alone and Ohio as 3-3 in H2H games and Kent was the odd team out.

I remember in 2020 we were hoping that if we beat Buffalo that we could tie Buffalo with 1 loss even though we had several less wins and some were saying the MAC would STILL rule in OUr favor if that happened.

Snow is not COVID and there were special COVID rules so this might not apply but , IMO, 5-2 is not tied with 6-2. Tiebreakers are very arbitrary things. Win/loss records are not so arbitrary. We are used to Head to Head and Divisional record in the US as common tiebreakers but that is not how things are in most sports leagues around the world. I think if they say that Buffalo wins the East by virtue of being 1/2 game up in an arbitrary second tiebreaker and that trumps being 1/2 game behind period its silly. In this case it might be a little more fair because 5-2 would very probably would have been 6-2 since the game they would have lost is against Akron. It also might help if they do rule that since Bowling Green still would not go into OUr game controlling its own destiny.

For what its worth, the MAC Football tiebreakers (admittedly, quite old, not entirely clear that they are still operative) state "The divisional championship shall be decided on conference winning percentage", with nothing about number of losses.

Back in 2007 the MAC had an odd number of teams and not everyone played eight games. At the end of the season, BG was 6-2 and MOFO was 5-2 and were considered tied for first in the East. MOFO went to the MACCG because they had beaten BG in the regular season. I don't know if that would still happen in 2022.

You must have missed where the NFLPA is calling for banning one type of turf (one that Ohio has had for the first two of its synthetic surfaces). NFL agrees the surface is not as safe, but will not demand an immediate replacement.

Due to current weather conditions in the Buffalo, NY area, this Saturday’s Mid-American Conference football game between the University of Akron and the University at Buffalo has been postponed.

The Conference will consider opportunities to play the game on Sunday should weather and travel conditions permit.

They could even push it to Monday. Both Akron and Buffalo don't play again until Saturday. It makes for a short week but it's been done in the past.

I looked at the weather forecast for Buffalo, and it said "2 to 4 feet of snow", then added that it would "make travel difficult or impossible". Really? Who would have guessed?

The MAC has now ruled out a Sunday game and postponed it "indefinitely." Sounds like they're leaving open the possibility of playing the game on Dec 2nd, should Buffalo not be in the MACCG and need a win to be bowl eligible (if they lose to Kent next week).

I would hope that Akron would have enough respect for themselves to get a flat tire on the way back to Buffalo, or find some other way to not play that game out of spite

Areas of Southern Buffalo were hit hardest. The Orchard Park area, home for the NFL team, got up to 77 inches of snow.

Looks like the MAC made a good call that football was not going to be possible at all, even today or tomorrow.

that was the easy part that they waited too long to call. They should have been in contingency mode much sooner and had a backup in place.

There was a really good story on one of the NFL pre games about all work the "Bill's Mafia" did with snow plows, snow blowers ,4 wheel drive vehicles to
get Bills players to the airport to go to Detroit.
