Rourke also gets the League MVP award and Albin is Coach of the Year!

The only one I think deserved better was Keye T. He is definitely a First Team LB. The rest is amazing! Now we have to go back it up on the field in four days!

Agree that Keye had an impressive season. However, what can you tell me about the top 30-40 MAC linebackers?

Rourke is literally the first Bobcat to ever win MAC MVP. Granted, the award only goes back to 1982. Even if it went back farther, the last guy that probably would have won if it had existed was Cleve Bryant in 1968.

I think it is interesting that the only Ohio defensive players on the list are Thompson, Drake, and McCrory, all of which are 3rd team. If you look at full season numbers, Ohio is last in defense, so that makes sense. But, in fact, Ohio improved a lot as the season progressed, and in MAC games only, Ohio was one of the best defenses:
https://getsomemaction.com/stats.aspx?path=football&year=...

Ohio was #2 in scoring defense, at 21.6 points a game, a shade behind the leader, Miami, at 20.9. In rushing defense, Ohio led the conference, at 123 yards a game, well ahead of Toledo at 132. Ohio was also 4th in sacks gained. The one place they come up short is that they were last in passing yards given up. Keep in mind, though, that Ohio was 5th in Defensive Pass Efficiency, and that part of the reason they gave up so many passing yards is that opponents attempted more passes against Ohio than against anyone else except Kent. Why? First, Ohio has a very tough run defense. Second, opponents were usually behind, and needed to throw the ball.

On the whole, I think Ohio's defense deserves a lot more respect than it got. The other place where Ohio is under-represented in awards is the offensive line. Ohio gave up the least sacks in the conference. Ohio also averaged 4.2 yds/carry rushing, tied for fifth with Toledo, behind NIU, Kent, Ball State, and CMU.

Kind of fun to look back at the Preseason List (and how far off it was).

14 selections for NIU and Toledo. Kent State (13), Western Michigan (12), Bowling Green (11), Miami (11) and Central Michigan (10) all reached 10 or more picks on the All-MAC Team for '22.

OU had 5.

A lot of teams at the bottom had All Conference LBers because they were constantly on the field.

Toledos Gant (Buckeye transfer) will be the key for any type of stops for Toledo on Saturday.

Even more embarrassing than only naming 5 Bobcats, of those 5, 3 of the ones they chose didn't end up being starters. Atkinson was behind Meservy, Parodie ended up behind Cox, and Wieland ended up behind Wilson.

Big congrats to all Bobcats named, they made us extremely proud in 2022. Not done yet.

Thought Kai Caesar's name would have popped up on 3rd team. Our interior DL has been stout in MAC play.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!
