This evening I saw this headline - and it reminded me of a slice of Ohio football history.

Christian McCaffrey became the first player since 2005 to run, catch and throw a touchdown in the same game

Tyler Greenawalt

Christian McCaffrey just did something only four other players have accomplished in modern NFL history.
The San Francisco 49ers running back ran, caught and passed for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.

Now, fellow Bobcats, let us recall this bit of Ohio football history. In 2000 Ohio running back Chad Brinker did the same thing for the Bobcats in a 23-17 win over Minnesota!

I remember listening to that game from my mother's hospital room in Columbus where she was recovering from adult respiratory distress syndrome, so I wasn't able to catch all the details of every play and those kind of stats. What I remember most was the end of the game where we got a few crucial 1st downs to run out the clock. I apologize to bobcatquared for revealing that I actually had a mother.

Footnote. Later in the 2000 season I was at BG, watching the Bobcats on their way to a win. Behind me was a man with a radio who was listening to the Minnesota-Ohio State game. The Gophers prevailed over the Buckeyes. Made Ohio's win over Minnesota feel a bit more special.

Boo Jackson did it in 2010 against Buffalo.

And with a first down at about the Minnesota 3yard line, Coach Grobe had Dontrell Jackson take a couple knees.

I have close friend in Columbus who to this day makes up excuses about these two games. I believe his most used excuse was that the Gophers didn't use their best QB against the Bobcats but did against the Buckeyes.
