Poor Kent State. Tennessee looks like the real deal. I hope that Kent State can get out of there in one piece.

I think Ball St is in similar peril. Cam Ward has been amazing for the Hurricanes so far.

Kent St. is a 48 point underdog. Ball St. is a 36 point underdog.

Agreed 100% Cat, and Victory, those are some crazy point spreads. Clearly, Vegas is desperate to get some action on the side of the MAC.

They ain’t desperate, it’s a mathematical formula that allows them to cover the bet with a profit.

Something about that Toledo and Mississippi State game looks juicy.

It's not just mathematical, Billy the Cat. The Bookmakers in Vegas are some of the best odds makers in the world. Even better, in some cases, then insurance adjusters. If it was purely mathematical, anyone could do it. These guys not only do their homework and have great information resources, but they have good instincts too. Part of the fun of betting in Sports Books in Vegas, at least in the past, is that you could get better odds from one Casino to the next. That's changed now since everyone is linked in real time via the Internet. In the old days, you could find out what Convention was in town and where most of the attendants were from. I used to make a fortune on the UCLA and Arizona basketball games, because a lot of Arizona fans would come up to Vegas to bet on the Wildcats and I got some great odds by betting against them and taking the Bruins.

Oh yeah, I think they can pull out that win. And if they do... (undefeated season incoming). Though now that I see it's a night game... those just add a layer of excitement and pump up the crowd atmosphere.

And that Cincy at Miami game... I hate to say it, but I think that's a win too. Gabbert looked pretty bad vs Northwestern, but I think he's too good to play like that in back-to-back games. Especially being at home.

Vakos just had a nice 53 yard bomb into the net vs Alabama.

Then Nicholson shanked one.

Still debating on placing a bet. I don't get that same feeling like I did last week (NIU vs ND). But it's close.

Hopefully Fiami takes that game to go up one win in their tied series with Cincy. Beating a B12 opponent 2 years in a row is great for the MAC if they can do it.

This ass-whooping by Tennessee should be worth at least $3M.

Some ugly losses-as expected. 1 great win by Toledo . No losses to FCS teams. It could have been worse

Seems like there is a big gulf between the top three or four teams in the MAC this year and the rest of the league. It doesn’t look there will be the usual parity that the league is famous for. Perhaps, I’m jumping the gun, but it look like NIU, UT, and WMU, maybe OHIO are a cut above the rest, with MOFO maybe on the heels of those four and then a big drop off. I could see several one-loss teams emerge at the end of the year and maybe one undefeated team. At this juncture 2024 doesn’t have the feel of the typical dog-eat-dog MAC season. This could all change in a week or so, but right now it looks the the bottom half of the league could could be the worst teams in all of FBS football, and the top two or three should be in the Top 25.

I'd divide it slightly differently:
Tier 1: NIU, Toledo
Tier 2: Miami, BG
Tier 3: Ohio, WMU, EMU
Tier 4: Ball State, CMU, Buffalo
Tier 5: none
Tier 6: none
Tier 7: Akron, Kent, (U.Mass would go here, too)

Being an upper-middle MAC team is not bad, considering all the turnover this year. Even better, while Ohio has some rough areas, I seem some strengths that Ohio can build on, and enough talent that, if they continue to improve, Ohio could move up a tier. The schedule is pretty favorable, too, with Ohio not playing NIU, BG, or WMU, so Ohio misses 3 of the top 6 teams, wile playing all five of the teams I placed in lower tiers.

Spot on +1 on the ranking and comment.

We need Parker to throw a better deep ball or we have problems and we aren't moving up.

I agree with L.C., upon reflection, BG should take WMU’s spot, in my original rankings.

I agree with this take. Given all the turnover I think the coaching staff put together a pretty solid roster but maybe missed at QB. Having a "serviceable" or "game manager" QB behind center is what may keep the Cats from being in the top 2 tiers. Here's hoping we see a better QB performance against Kentucky than what was put on display against Morgan State.

Back to back roadies against CMU and Miami will likely set the course for the MAC season. Ohio never seems to play well against the Chips (regardless of venue) and Miami in Oxford will be tough if the offense can't sustain drives. 1-2 out the gate could be a distinct possibility. The back 5 short of a trip to the Glass Bowl are very manageable and it's great getting Buffalo and EMU at home. My guess is either 5-3 or 4-4 in conference play which would be solid considering so many question marks coming into the season.

What Ohio needs is for Navarro to become Austin Everson, and Poulas to become Boo Jackson. ;)

Boo or T3 could make this offense hum. This is NOT Eversons stylye of talent to surround him with.
