We could pick up a few more transfers, but so far we seem to have done a decent job.
Any of these 10 could contribute and some come with good credentials.

1. CJ Doggett-DL
At 290 he can play inside or out. The UC transfer could be moved inside to provide a heck of a pass rush,
3 years eligible.

2. Gunnar Gundy-QB
I was impressed with Parker at the bowl but Gunner adds a different dimension. Parker is a runner who can throw and Gunnar is a passer who can run if need be. He has a decent deep ball. 2 years eligible from OkSt.

3. Charles Ross-WR
Maybe the best video I watched. He has the size and speed and separation. Played against tough competition. 2 years eligible I think from San Jose State.

4. Ben McNobie-DE
I really like this guy. Quick enough to play LBer. With Doggett and returnees the DL group should give opponent QBs some problems.

5. Blake Leake-LB
Adds some experience to a young LBer group. Played WR in high school so he adds some speed. One and done from Bucknell.

6. Dustin Johnson-S
He should replace Walter Reynolds. The guy is a heat seeking missile. One and done from North Dakota U.

7. Ciganna Cisse-OL
It wouldn’t surprise me if he beat someone out on the OL. I love his video called House of Pancakes. I think 2 years eligible.

8. Jacob Proche-CB
Nice to have Cox back but he should see some PT.

9. Trent Allen-OL
Can play guard or center so should add some depth.

10. Jake Bruno-TE
Area of need with some size at 6’6”-250.

Thanks Doc. If you're willing, I'd love to see this nice concise list include what school they're coming from and what class they are.

Any opinion on the JUCO addition?

Interestingly, the addition of Doggette gives the possibility of a Pick Central front line that could be around awhile:
DT/NT Kobi Gorman, Pick Central 6-2 279, Soph
DT Gino Williams, Pick Central 6-0 260, R-Fr
DT RJ Keuchler, Pick Central 6-5 268, R-Fr
DT/DE CJ Doggett, Pick Central, 6-2, 270, R-So

Now let’s get their best player next year….All Ohio running back Michael Taylor..

Looking at the offensive changes, on a position by position basis:
QB - lose Rourke with one to play, gain Gundy with 2 to play. Probably a step down in 2024, but a gain for 2025
RB - lose Bangura, Allison, Kitrell, and Quinn, gain only freshman Brune - clearly a stop down, but Hunt is solid
WR - Lose Cross, Walton, Rhone, and Wilburn, plus Wiglusz to graduation. Gain Ross and Rodarte, plus three Freshmen (Hurst, Dorwart, Thompson). Also, Jones returns from injury. May be a step down, but WR is never a position that concerns me.
TE - Lose Foster, Burton and Kacmarek, but gain Bruno, plus Freshmen Segarra and Miller. Also, Williams returns from injury. Clearly a step down, but should be OK
OL - Lose Dannerker with 1 year left, gain Allen and Cisse, both with 2 years, plus three Freshmen (Erby, Parson, Anstead). Probably a positive trade.

As fpr Defense:
DE/DT - From the portal, lose Tristan Cox, gain McNaboe, Doggette. Clearly a huge step up from the portal, but also lose Watkins, Sutton, Bonner, and Matthews due to eligibility. Add Freshmen Arndt and Ehret. Position will be weaker, but not due to the portal.
LB - lose Thompson to the portal and Houston due to eligibility. Gain Leake, plus 3 freshmen (Startz, Bowman, Kelly). Position will be weaker, but Leake, Taylor, and Stevens are solid.
CB - lose Birchette to eligibility, gain Proche. Should be fine there
S - lose Reynods to eligibility and Johnson to the portal. Gain a different Johnson from the portal, and 3 Freshmen (Morton, Haskins, Mathis). Should be solid there, with Brawley, Williams, and Fleming back, plus the new Johnson looks very good.

Further discussion:
WR isn't really a concern to me because Ohio always had depth there. Hendricks and Jones make two solid starters, and for the third you can pick from newcomers Ross and Rodarte, or returning R. Harris, Hammer, Hilton, or Debrow.

RB, Ohio had a lot of depth, but losing four players seriously eats into that. Given that there hasn't been a huge effort to bring extra RB from the portal, I presume the coaches aren't too worried about it.

At TE, Ohio lost their top 3 players....but....Williams is solid, and Bruno will be capable, too. With some incoming Freshmen that look excellent, Ohio will hopefully be OK here.

The defensive turnover is mostly from the loss of eligibility (Houston, Birchette, Reynolds, Matthews, Watkins, Sutton, Bonner), rather than from the portal, so it will be pretty much like any other year where you lose a few starters and have to replace them.

At RB besides Hunt should be McCormick and Brune. Devon Hunter and Aginon Wilson were on the Bobcat 2023 roster and I am guessing they are still on campus? Am I missing a player? Maybe another portal or JC RB later this spring?

McCormick is clearly #2 in my book, and Hunt is more that "solid." I see RB as strength in 2024.

Perfect analysis per usual from L.C.

WR looks to be our strongest position. Returnees Jones and Hendricks and Harris are solid. Hilton played at a running offense Citadel and did well. Freshman Thompson and Dowart are big and fast. My crazy prediction is that portal transfer Ross will be our top receiver. He has separation and speed and size and his video showed lots of circus catches against teams like USC. And there are a few more freshman and returnees who could surprise.

Most concerned about linebacker. Taylor looked good in the bowl but we need a few more bodies. Marshall came with almost 4 star numbers. Leake from Bucknell could pair with Taylor. Not as good as last year but I think the D line will put more pressure on than last year…portals Doggette and McNaboe will get some sacks.

Like others I’m cautiously optimistic.

In 2023...
Bangura: 43% of rushing yards
Allison: 24%
McCormick: 0.02%
Everybody else: 33%

In 2022...
Bangura: 54%
McCormick: 14%
Everybody else: 32%

In 2021...
Tuggle: 36%
Everybody else: 64%

We need a strong #2, probably a proven #3. Hunt himself might be a strength, but I'm cautious about leaning on McCormick. As well as an unknown at 3rd. In the last three years we've had about a dozen starters at RB.

Coleman Owen, All-FCS WR from Northern Arizona. 50 recptions and 5TDs ladt year! Looks like our next Wiglusz--smallish guy who isn't afraid of contact with great hands. Will be nice addition with Ross to Jacoby and Hendricks.

Gunnar is gone so replace my number two with Anthony Tyus from Nortwestern.

6’1” 225 pound RB with quick feet.

Has at least 2 years remaining and he was Northwestern’s #2 RB.

Great pickup.
