In 2023, he was the WR coach at UC Davis. His bio is below. Love the PAC-12 experience at WSU. I assume the Brian Smith connection helped with this hire since they both spent time together at Hawaii and Washington State.


Veteran coach Andre Allen joined the UC Davis coaching staff in the spring of 2022. He will serve as the Aggies wide receivers coach.

Allen brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Aggies, including 27 in California. Allen spent two seasons in Pullman with Washington State, the WSU receiver room was one of the most heralded in the Pac-12.

In 2021, four wideouts garnered conference accolades. Receivers Travell Harris and Calvin Jackson Jr. were both named to the second team, the first set of Cougar wideouts to earn all-conference first or second team since 2004 and both are the first WSU wide receivers to earn first or second-team honors since Gabe Marks was a first-team selection in 2015 and 2016. Wideouts De'Zhaun Stribling and Lincoln Victor were named honorable mention as Victor napped the accolade as an all-purpose player.

Harris and Jackson Jr. were among the leaders in the Pac-12 in nearly every receiving category as Jackson Jr. was second with 987 receiving yards while Harris followed in third with 814 yards. Harris caught 76 passes to rank third while Jackson Jr. followed with 66 to finish fourth. Harris' nine touchdowns ranked second in the league and Jackson Jr. hauled in seven touchdowns to rank fourth.

In his first season in Pullman, the run-n-shoot offense saw five Cougars earn All-Pac-12 Conference honors while producing the Pac-12s top red-zone offense and third-best passing game. Allen saw receivers Renard Bell and Travell Harris each earn All-Pac-12 Conference honors after finishing among the league leaders in catches and in the top three for receiving yards-per-game.

Allen worked two seasons in the same role at Hawai'i, helping UH to back-to-back winning seasons, including a 10-5 mark and Hawaii Bowl win over BYU in 2019. The San Francisco native spent his previous 27 seasons coaching at the City College of San Francisco, helping CCSF to three national titles (2007, 2011, 2015) and eight Northern California Championships.

In his two seasons in Honolulu, Allen saw the Hawai'i offense improve in total offense and passing offense while producing the country's ninth-rated passing offense in 2018 and the fifth-best passing attack in 2019. In 2019, three of Allen's receivers recorded 1,000-yard seasons, just the sixth team in NCAA FBS history to have a trio of 1,000-yard receivers in the same season. A pair of Hawaii receivers earned All-Mountain West Conference accolades, including first-team selection Cedric Byrd II and second-team pick JoJo Ward who caught 10 and 11 touchdowns, respectively.

In 2018, the Hawai'i offense finished ninth in the country in passing offense and wide receiver John Ursua led the country with 16 touchdown catches and fifth in receiving yards (1,343). Ursua was a Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist, a Polynesian Football Hall of Fame College Player of the Year Finalist and was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

Prior to Hawai'i, Allen spent 27 seasons at the City College of San Francisco, where he coached 26 players who earned FBS scholarships. Allen was CCSF's wide receivers coach (1992-96), passing coordinator and wide receivers coach (1997-2004) and offensive coordinator (2005-17). Allen helped CCSF capture three national titles (2007, 2011, 2015), eight Northern California championships, 21 conference titles and coached every Top-10 receiver in the CCSF record book.

At CCSF, Allen organized and managed the Athletic Scholastic Achievement Study Hall Program for student-athletes, where 90 percent of his players successfully transferred into four-year schools.

Allen played at CCSF (1987-89) and at the University of Tennessee – Martin (1989-91). He earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Ashford.

Allen and his wife April have five children, Tyrese, Jacob, Jasmine, and twins Christian and Faith. Allen enjoys family movie nights, BBQs with the family at the park and finding new restaurants to enjoy with his wife.

Quite a resume. He’s in for a rude awakening when looking for new restaurants after his many years in SF. Even Davis has many more than our burg. Ouch.

I think at one time SF had something over 4000 Restaurants.

Yep - I noticed that when I was in there last fall. Order of steak fries is about the size of McDonalds medium fries too. Their Jack and Coke is still pretty darn good though.

When I was in the Pub a little over a year ago I asked a bartender why the aquariums are so much smaller than what they were previously. She explained it had something to do with the insurance policy the Pub has. A few minutes later she brought out my coney dog that was also quite smaller than what I was used to. In my Larry David voice, I asked her if that was due to the Pub's insurance policy as well.

He brought the military helmet to the sideline. I hope they keep it.
