Lincoln Journal-Star article confirms that Vick is staying. Towards the bottom it reads:
LJS wrote:
Solich has an excellent quarterback in sophomore Tyler Tettleton. Frank also has a talented backup QB that plans to transfer.

Which means Derrius Vick, a freshman from Lincoln Southeast, moves up to No. 2 entering spring drills, Solich said.

"We're going to have to bring him along quickly," the coach said. "He's just going to have to throw the ball year-round now and develop that part of his game. I think he'll develop into what we want."

There are some COMPLETE MORONS on this message board. Snyders first choice was Mount Union and I said that Ronnie Bell and Kyle Snyder where leaving before anyone knew squat. And guess what people bitched and moaned and said that it wasnt true. Well guess what they are gone and thanks to the coaching staff Snyder stayed through Potato Bowl. Guess he got a better offer from SEMO during the time that he was making his choice.

Ohio coaches always try and help the kids when they are leaving the program. Kyle Kozack..Melvin Payne..Hilton Dawson Etc. This is a top notch staff. Most programs...OSU kick kids off and put them on a bus back home if their lucky.

From Bobcatblitz 11/27 – “The scoop is several Ohio Bobcats did NOT RETURN to the team after the break..word is that they ALL ARE THE ENTIRE ROSTER OF BACK UP QUARTERBACKS NOT NAMED PHIL BATES....SYNDER,VICK,BELL....GONE DUE TO NO PROSPECTS EVER EVER SEEING THE FIELD...TERRIBLE CALL BY SYNDER IMO...THE OTHERS MAYBE BUT SERIOUSLY THIS IS A HUGE BLOW TO OHIO NOW AND IN THE FUTURE...TYLER WILL OBVIOULY NEED A BACKUP.

Tyler is the only QB on the roster now..Bates ..well I wouldn't count him we may as well put Dunlop or THompson behind center either way the game would be lost if Tyler goes down.

Yeah I totally agree with you that they have a terrible attitude ..why leave before the BIGGEST 2 games of the season..maybe EVER. The freshman Vick and Bell ok they would never see any real time but Snyder can start for most teams and has a much better arm than Tyler."

Then commence back-tracking

Whats your point. They didn't return on the scheduled return day and only one Vick had a valid excuse the others had other motives.

That's how it works in Bobcat land. Bobcatzblitz puts out a scoop about the backup QBs being unhappy and probably leaving the program that was basically accurate and couldn't be found anywhere in the media.

Last summer, amid a hot competition for the starting QB job, Kyle Snyder ends up in jail with a broken-looking face, charged with underage consumption and obstructing official business. End of quarterback competition and - you would think - time for an article by Arkley, et al. That coverage never happened, though.

The kicker is that in this forlorn information environment, everyone wants to berate Bobcatzblitz and sanctify Arkley.

Point is you posted an exclusive that had all the QBs but Tettleton gone and not returning this year.  False info.  then backtracked as more information came clear.  You want a scoop.  Here it is.  Second string QBs often are unhappy and transfer when they are sitting behind a potential All-Conference player that has multiple years remaining.  The fact he is leaving AFTER the season is not a OMG moment and hardle worthy of ALL CAP EXCLUSIVE treatment that ends up being partially true because a QB buried on the depth chart leaves before the end of the season - that's like saying the whole coaching staff is leaving and then finding out the Grad Assist. is leaving and saying the original statement was for the most part true.

Because "basically accurate" isn't something you run with in a printed publication. It's right or it's not. All of it.

Wow, what a terrible analogy.

Snyder is gone. Bell is gone. Vick is staying. Snyder was by far the most game-ready of the full-time backup QBs.

Pretty accurate scoop. Not bad for some guy on the Internet.

Also, a more careful recollection and reasoning of events determines that there possibly was some kind of organized, sudden backup QB exodus. Snyder's tweets before the MAC championship suggested that he had decided to bail ASAP and then was talked out of it by the coaches. Snyder working to expunge his misdemeanors suggests that he might have been putting his resume out to potential new coaches. Vick's tweets at that time didn't explain the apparent gap between his schedule and the team's. It was reported that TT was the only quarterback at the first practice after Thanksgiving.

What are you talking about? Bobcatzblitz isn't a journalist, and he didn't put stuff onto any printed publication. He put information that was mostly accurate onto a message board in a timely fashion and provided updates.

Agree with Bobcatblitz.  I'm making an assumption by saying he is a student, but students are often the best sources for inside info on what players are doing.  Most of the time it is negative, but that is the way it goes.  I know other student posters have other stories that they don't choose to tell.  I think Bobcatblitz was mostly right and had some insider info, and on a board like this that is fine.  Also, what ever happened to Kozack? I know he got in a fight and kicked off the team, but did he land on his feet?

I think the point is no news publication could print anything about this because these inside sources can't stand as reliable enough. In this case, they turned out to be mostly accurate, but that'st he kind of thing that's made many newspapers look terrible and ruined their reputation with the teams they cover.

As for what Bobcatblitz revealed, I'm not sure how I feel about it. As Putnam Field put it, he was "basically accurate." The details about Vick were probably off just a bit. It's interesting to consider what standards of correctness and the types of sources that can stand to post about something on a message board. Of course, certain boards have different policies that have to be adhered to, which I think was the issue here.

He was also incorrect in that his post implied that all were gone as of that moment, and that there would be no backup for Tettleton for the MACC or bowl other than Bates, which was not correct at all. Was he "mostly correct"? "Mostly incorrect"? Does it really matter?

The first part was dead on, so to speak.  Even though it's much more serious declaring someone dead when they're not, it may be just as damaging to put out only partly accurate information regarding almost anything dealing with someone's career.

Nuff said.

(And yes I noticed the typo on the graphic about getting it right.)

I think that this is an important point -- one that I agree with.  Also, the tone of the original post was very "alarmist" and made it sound like there was some kind of organized backup QB strike going on.  That turned out to be completely inaccurate.  The stuff on Bell and Snyder was "basically correct."  If he had just posted that, without the emotional overlay of a backup QB Armageddon, I would have had no problem with it.

Putnam Field hits it right on the head. This message Board is nothing official nor is it a printed publication as someone suggested LOFL. There was in fact an organized and thought out QB mutiny and what started my investigation was seeing Kyle Snyder thrust upon the KICK OFF COVERAGE TEAM. Now I played football for a long time and there are some QBs that would jump at the chance to run down and blast someone on special teams. Kyle Snyder didnt have the body language on the sideline of someone that wanted to.And ask yourselves...did Ohio need him on special teams NO ..so I assumed he was voicing his displeasure with holding the clipboard and a coach said Ok kid get in there//. Even an amateur sports writer should have made a notation to ask Frank about this odd development. And when no one mentioned it I began to ask questions of my own. Disaster was avoid by a savy coaching staff and Arkley threw a couple softball sized "questions" to Coach Solich who promptly played coy. Well its all over with now Vick is staying because he is now Robin to Tettletons Batman. Dont think we should have this problem until another hotshot sophmore qb comes along.

What a coincidence because Kozak just appeared at BWWS the other day and stated that played part of this season with Walsh University and is in town performing a "community service"....what a nice young man to provide these services to Athens City. LOL

All I can say is what a stupid move on Snyder's part to transfer from bowl champion OHIO to a second tier FCS program in SE Missouri State. T2 will be the starter next season but what about injuries? Snyder is from Northeast Ohio and why transfer to go all the way out to SE Missouri to go to college? When this team wins the MAC Championship and makes a BCS game next year he'll regret the decision.

Snyder could start here and any other MAC school but obviously Ohio is not in the position to give him the playing time to get better. He is faster than Tyler and throws a much much better ball than Tyler however hr lacks the game reps. We are losing a very good QB but Tyler has earned his spot and you cant really expect Snyder to hang around while his eligibility runs out. I'm pretty sure the kid just wants to play and win on any level.

The coaches made the decision to start Tyler and it was, without question, the right decision.  No second guessing, no hypothesizing what Snyder may or may not be able to do in the same situation.  TT took us to ten wins and a bowl victory.

Not uncommon for the back-up to want to play and to leave for another school to try to get playing time. It was not going to happen, and should not be happening at Ohio.  We have our QB.  Good luck to the young man.  I'm sure his speed and arm strength will serve him well.  I'm pleased his cooler head prevailed when "alarmist" notes were being written.  While "promises" of playing time may have been made as we were sorting things out early in the season, once TT got on a role the coaches made the right decision to put the team ahead of a player's wants or a previous conversation.  My guess is that Snyder understood the decision, was disappointed in it, but understood it.  Team first.  Just as he showed by supporting the team all season.  Doesn't mean he was jobbed, just means he was not deemed better than the starter.  Could he start here?  Yes, if TT was not here. Good luck to him.

blitz, again with the faster than Tyler, passes much better than Tyler, now, could start here given playing time.  I believe if you were coach the starter would have been determined by a foot race and a pretty spiral competition.  There are other things like understanding of the offense, ability to read defenses and make adjustments on the fly, etc.  I believe Mr. Snyder does all of these well enough to start somewhere.  Reminds me of Mr. Bates coming to Ohio.  I hope Mr. Snyder finds what he wants and I would also wish him a great OL and many fast/surehanded WRs.  If what he wants is at SEMO he will be enjoying some Pagliai's pizza as a bonus.
