Scout is reporting that the Cats have signed 2 big JUCO defensive linemen today.....Watson Tautuiaki from Cally and Cameron McLeod from Mississippi....more info forthcoming.

Haven't turned up much on McLeod.....lots of info on Tautuiaki on another thread.....nice article mentioning McLeod where his coach says he is SEC material:

Prior tries at recruiting JUCO defensive linemen haven't worked out too well. Let's hope this time is better.

At least not next year.....current Cat Tim Edmond was at a juke for 2 years after signing with us outta high school.

Solich and staff are again showing that they are serious about winning and will go to the JUCO ranks when a position is obviously thin.

It seems like for whatever reason just as the future of the program is looking dubious something happens like a big signing or in 2010 Miami's Haywood leaving after 2 seasons or Kent State's coach leaving after 2012. The MAC schedule comes out and the schedule makers have us playing the 2 weakest programs in the West. Once again due mostly to luck Ohio is in position to win 8-10 football games again next year.

Ty Branz had a pretty good year. Let's hope these newtwo do it also. Can't overemph enough the importance of d-line play.

Branz actually made about 3 tackles in a row at the end of the ULM game, including a sack. He seemed to keep getting better as the year went on.

Ha....Solich Soarer has been iced up for days.

When I saw the Kurgen that night my wife had just yelled...."You're not on Bobcat Attack again are you?"...."Of course not dear." The next day my brain freeze thawed and Kurgen and McLeod came together.

The more I think about it, the more the idea of all these defensive linemen has grown on me. The thing is that over the last few years Ohio has had trouble maintaining depth on the defensive line. Think about it - How many years have they had more than 1-deep inside? As a result, it seems that in recent years they have often had trouble getting pressure on the QB, and with making stops at critical times. Their redzone defense has been one of the worst in the MAC. As a result, Burrows has caught a lot of flack.

Ohio is clearly making an effort to change that. Last year they brought in an actual defensive line coach with experience, and now they have obviously let that guy recruit the guys he wants. If it works, I predict that Ohio will get a lot more stops on defense, and they will have to gamble a lot less with blitzes, meaning they will give up less big plays. If I am right, Burrows will suddenly go from goat to hero in a lot of fan's minds.

I don't know the order they will end, but here's the picture at DT/NG:

Senior - John Taylor 6-5 260
Junior - Crutcher 6-1 300, McLeod 6-3 285, Tony Davis 6-4 285
Soph - Tautuiaka 6-4 305, Haser 6-5 260, Purdum 6-3 255
R-Freshmen - none
Freshmen - Porter 6-2 270, Aloese 6-1 290, Sayles 6-4 260

I see Crutcher, Tautuaiki, Porter, and Aloese at the NG slot, with the others at DT, and some might move back to DE.

At DE you have:

Sophomore - Bennett 6-6 255, Price 6-5 222,
