Ohio softball: MAC regular season champs

Ohio won its first regular season MAC championship since 1995. The Bobcats went 20-3 in MAC play to run away with the title. Toledo and Ball State both finished 16-7. Ohio is the #1 seed and faces #8 Miami in the round at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

There's no mention of it being on ESPN3 but there is a link for a video broadcast via the MAC website I believe.

Right, it's the winner's bracket final, which is technically the overall semifinal. #7 Northern Illinois is the unlikely opponent. One of Ohio's three MAC losses actually came to the Huskies, a surprising 15-5 loss in five innings. Neither started its ace in that game. Ohio won 2-0 when Steine pitched and she closed out a 7-6 win in the other game. Game is scheduled for 3:30 today.

Steine no hits NIU 8-0 in semi final. Cats take on winner of Ball-NIU Saturday at noon. Go OHIO.

NIU topped Ball state this morning. Ohio is up 2-0 on a Dorsey home run in the 2nd inning. NIU has to beat Bobcats twice.

MAC tournament champs. 2-0 over Northern Illinois. Steine with a 2-hitter this time. She pitched all 4 games, 27 innings, 1 earned run, 11 hits, 31 strikeouts.
