Claimed by Giants. He didn't sit on the shelf long.

He got picked up off waivers by the Giants immediately.

Classic, non professional athletes telling a professional athlete what is best for them. And failing to understand the seasons overlap and he could play both. And all this time I’ve wondered why you guys haven’t been hired to be his agent!

What? Nathan Rourke is on here looking for advice on his career? I’d be stunned if that is true. No that’s not happening. Nor is he playing at the same time for both the CFL and NFL since they do overlap and he can’t be under contract for both at the same time. Now he could still try to make the Giants and get cut in time to still play in the CFL but that wouldn’t be playing in both.

As long as he keeps getting picked up, he's gonna keep the dream alive. As he should.

I don't imagine the market is salivating to add him, and you gotta take the chance at getting tape and getting reps in front of NFL coaches whenever you can, but he's proven to be pretty decent in preseason, I just *HATE* this spot in NY. Hell, the Jets would be better.

The thing with Jacksonville was he was right on the cusp of being the #2 so they gave him a lot of reps to show his skills. In NY... yuck... they have 78 QB's. I think I saw Drew Henson on there under Seneca Wallace. He'll never see time as even the 3rd QB with hometown hero Tommy DeVito still there. I guess we just have to hope he can ball out with the 4th team in preseason and catch on again somewhere else.

Jones will be the starter barring something significant happening before week one but that isn't a long term wrapped up spot. Lock is considered a capable backup. DeVito got to start last year due to injuries and played decently. The Giants may need to keep 4 QBs for him to stick. As a undrafted free agent he needs injuries to get into a game and then play well at some point or he'll run out of chances soon.

He definitely isn’t calling you for advice, but to tell a person to take a 80% payout is just absurd. You’d laugh at some one who told you to do that. Especially when you feel you can succeed at your job.

Billy at dinner - friend orders “i’ll have the special but with broccoli” billy “classic. telling a professional chef how to plate their food. you should open your own restaurant if you have that kind of insight”. lol

odd. you seem to actually think i was intent on giving him personal advise and not simply stating my opinion - which is no less educated than yours (presenting the idea of signing with both leagues) - smh.

will see how it plays out. since he went north 54 quarterbacks have been drafted and a slew of others have gone undrafted and signed FA contracts. most (like rourke) have not found a hold in the league. and most won’t. each year the room gets more crowded and the window closes more and more for those who have been fighting for one of the few open chairs. and practice squad spots tend to go to younger players. will see where he ends up. financially going north is not a “pay cut” if he doesn’t make an nfl roster since nfl pay is in season so the next few months are a wash. hopefully devitos agent won’t put a hit out on him.

Consensus on sports talks stations out there is that, with his experience, Nathan should beat out Divito.

I am so happy for this young man. I hope that he finds a place on the final roster with the Giants. How cool would that be? It sounds like everyone now is looking for the next Patrick Mahomes, but Mahomes had the advantage of landing on a well run team, with a great coaching staff, and plenty of weapons around him. What an ugly league the NFL can be if you don't end up in the right spot. Go, Nathan, live the dream, brother. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat, so you are still loved amongst Bobcat Nation regardless of what happens.

I’m sure he values “your opinion on what he should do with his future. Do you have a business card for your career consulting business?

Because he doesn’t need to sign with both leagues, his rights are owned in Canada and you CANNOT be under contract in the CfL and the NFL at the same time. So, please tell me about this opinion again.

So everyone is clear, despite your meandering and contradicting claims/opinions, he can not play in both because - as you also point out - the seasons indeed overlap. And, he CANNOT be under contract in the CfL and the NFL at the same time. Yes, BC maintains his rights. (I'm sure Toronto would love to have him - LOL/SMH Mr. Kelly)

Rourke has not ruled out a return north. Wants to exhaust NFL opportunities but acknowledges his time in Canada was "super positive" - good news is Giants grabbed his rights before Atlanta. Falcons are stockpiling QBs right now.

As a Browns fan, I try not to laugh at the plight of others - especially when it comes to the QB position, but what in the world is going on in Atlanta. (I love Cousins)

As a Panther fan I'm just buying popcorn and watching the distraction it is reportedly causing inside the building. I get the thought of drafting a QB for the future - they could be set for the next 10 years. But not informing Cousins (who I also like) is a disturbance they could have avoided. Falcons knew one reason he was leaving Minny was because Vikings planned on drafting a QB in the first round and then Atlanta immediately goes out and does the very same thing. Odd way to welcome your new franchise QB.

28-3 lives on

Curious, what makes you think there would be?

"HBO announced that 'Hard Knocks, Offseason with the New York Giants' will debut July 2 on Max, the network's streaming service. Presumably that will feature an inside look at the team's approach to the scouting combine, free agency and the NFL Draft."

Oh that makes more sense, I didn't see that it was highlighting the Giants.
