When is the last time in NCAA history that a walk on has reached the level of success that Zips Freeman has achieved?
Scottie Pippen was a team manager.
Jeff Hornacek.
Duncan Robinson.
Andre Drummond.
Dennis Rodman was a janitor at the airport or something wasn't he? Though I guess they probably didn't have scholarships anyway at that level.

I can't recall any other big names, but those are some real big ones.
Thanks!

Jim Boeheim actually walked on as a guard at Syracuse and averaged 15ppg one year

Lots in football:
Stetson Bennett, Baker Mayfield, Hunter Renfrow, JJ Watt, Clay Matthews, Santana Moss; plus a number of good kickers and punters.

Top NCAA baseball walk-ons include:
Ozzie Smith
Shane Bieber
David Eckstein
Ryan Howard
Keep in mind, there are various levels of “walk-ons.” A number of walk-ons annual aren’t without scholarship offers. Many walk-ons pass on less desirable offers and walk-on at programs with the hope of earning a scholarship there (like some you listed above), or to simply be a member of that school/program. But yes, there are also many cases of walk-ons who didn’t have any offers whatsoever.

Not Matt Kaulig’s seats. But I am been assured they are up close and personal, with many ardent Akron fans around us!

If Groce goes back to the NCAA Tourney this year, I think we’ve seen the last of him in the MAC. Perfect time for him to get a second chance at a power 6 job with Freeman off to pro ball somewhere.

Checks dictionary.

Sees photo of Bobcat legend Jerry Lebold. (sarcasm)

But he would give us quality minutes right now in the paint.

6-0 Akron 7.5 point favorites. Most here probably expected 10+. Vegas continues to like the Bobcats more than the faithful fans.

Will be in Akron for the game. Have an Akron donor’s seats. Hoping for the underdog Bobcats to take down Groce’s Zipps.
Does that mean you've scored the Leaf Filter seats? (Matt Kaulig)
No but immediately behind the Zips bench! Super seats!

God awful offense

Their length definitely bothers us.

Again, my favorite play… Get everybody in the lane and leave the wide-open three-point shooter. In this day and age, you’ve got to guard the lane 1V1 and stay on the three-point shooters. I would rather give up a two than a three.

Defense looks good enough to win. The offense though, not close

Whiz, rebound the ball. You are 6 foot 11. How can you be inside and not get the rebound? And don’t tell me he pushed off. Jump get your hands up and rebound the ball.

And the same for Clayton

I am just shocked at how stupid coaches are guarding the lane and leaving the threes open

We have wasted an excellent defensive performance. I don’t know what it is, but I truly think Ohio is one of the worst finishing teams in the country at making contested lay-ups or getting fouled on lay-ups and failing to get and one’s. We just never seem to convert in these situations. A bit of softness at the rim.

I sure thought that's what happened first, before Hadaway landed on him.

This has the feel of a throwback Akron/Ohio game.

Hope we can make some memories in the last 8 minutes here.

Fear, Leon, we cannot finish at the rim because we are too small. We got a bunch of 6 foot one guys going in against 6 foot 5 , 6 foot six, or 6 foot seven guys.

Let's go! Get hot and pull this out. Akron has thrown everything at us and hit every big shot (they're better offensively, period) but we're still in it. Let's get some stops and see what happens.

I could be wrong but would that matter when everyone is heading to the floor? Haha

Right in this. Make some shots and steal one on the road against the league's best team.
