F Miami today, tomorrow and every day up to today.
No matter what they do, they can never erase the magic of everything around 38-3.
I would like to think they force our hand but I have no idea where the money comes from. I'm sure they are/will see an impactful spike in alumni money as a result of this season. Looks like they reported another sellout last night.
Around Cincinnati, the exposure and lip smacking is nauseating. I would like to think March 6 will be an epic Friday Night in Athens but I just do not feel it man. Hope the hell I am wrong because nothing could be better than being the team that sends them on a spiral to the NIT.

It’s hard to believe we’ve turned those leagues down when they call to talk to us. 🤪
I’m still laughing on the above comments. Yep and while we are dreaming, Ohio University should call the Big Ten and Big 12 for possible membership. BTC is correct. Hard to imagine why we turned down those power leagues.

Not only is Miami playing in front of large crowds in Millet, they are also drawing big crowds, including some sellouts, on the road. Unfortunately, Friday, March 6, is the last day of school at Ohio before spring break. Don't expect a large student turnout, although my freshman son will be in attendance.

The new C-USA would take us in a heartbeat. But, we aren't that dumb!

Why not the SEC? It just means more. (according to them)

I have a strong feeling there's going to be a LOT of red in the Convo for that game. Last regular season game before Cleveland, potential chance to finish off an undefeated regular season...

In five years we have gone from eliminating the defending national champs in the NCAA tournament to having our gym taken over by fiami fans looking for an unbeaten regular season.
And some people want to cling to this status quo. SMDH.

Having faith in Boals is not the same as wanting to maintain the status quo. 15-13 record with 3,000 (maybe) on weeknights and 4,500 on Friday night national TV doesn't make anyone happy.

What is the deal with ESPN showing a 2:00 start but our site and Miami's site doesn't? The MAC's site doesn't update at all with TV matchups it seems. There are supposed to be two MAC TV slots on the 6th (6:00 and 9:00) but no announcement yet towards either.

If Boals is retained and he doesn't kick serious ass in the portal, I plan to have some interesting comments for the ticket department telemarketer intern when they inevitably call next fall. Like the one who said everybody needed to buy more tickets because Boals' kid was on the team now.**
**Yes, he actually said that. Not sarcastic.

Do we not have a weight program? My 80 year old mother-in-law with the neck brace on could push him out of the paint. Compare what Woolfolk at fiami looks like now compared to a couple of seasons ago. As far as Connors, fiami also has a 3-point shooting machine thing. Wouldn't that be a good investment?

This is a question I keep asking myself. Initially, I thought that this was also going to be true with Simmons, but he's gotten better as the season progressed.

Simmons is the superior player of the three.
FWIW and this is a super small and cherry picking sample size -- when Breath has attempted at least 7 shots (3x), he's averaging 13ppg while shooting 63%.
When he's attempted at least 4 shots (5x), he's averaging 10.4ppg while still shooting 63%.
He's averaging 4rpg in those spans. Conners was always supposed to be a 3PT specialist. From what I recall, he had more set plays ran for him at App State. His 3PT attempts are down from last year per game from 5.2 to 2.8. Overall FG from 6.5 to 3.9.
The outcome has been disappointing for both, but Connors is playing 17mpg less and Breath playing 8mpg less than a year ago. I think they're lack of impact has had more to do with inconsistent playing time and touches for a team that doesn't have a set offense more than actual ability. Are we really surprised neither has been able to catch a groove with such little involvement?

On the subject of Mister Softee....still no reason given by the program as to why he didn't play against NIU. Another example why Boals has one of the easiest jobs in the country when it comes to not having to talk about his team in the media. Of course, it helps when the only media covering the team is a 19-year old student at WOUB.

Obviously, I didn't check into the post-game presser following the thrilling NIU win. If you have the link, please post it and I'll check out. Thanks
PS I still stand by my comment about lack of information.

This is a valid assessment, IMHO. To me it, again, points to coaching. You bring in a three-point shooter who relies on set plays knowing you don't like to run set plays. Then you sit him on the bench because he's not as productive as he was the previous year. It just seems to me that the whole roster is mismanaged, and we have a bunch of parts that don't fit together very well. Compare that with That School in Oxford who has players who seem to work together like a well-oiled machine. Again, being shamed by That school is unacceptable!

On the subject of Mister Softee....still no reason given by the program as to why he didn't play against NIU? Another example why Boals has one of the easiest jobs in the country when not having to talk about his team in the media. Of course, it helps when the only media covering the team is a 19-year old student at WOUB.
One of your regular complaints but do you pay attention to the media? Boals stated in his press conference that Breath was ill on Saturday.
Obviously, I didn't check into the post-game presser following the thrilling NIU win. If you have the link, please post it and I'll check out. Thanks
PS I still stand by my comment about lack of information.
Obviously? Obvious that you've exposed that you don't pay attention? I assumed from your regular complaints that you paid close attention. Or maybe you only pay close attention to "thrilling" games? Or to losses? Or to player/team struggles? BA problem IMHO

. . . But when do we ask why guys like Breath and Connors are so much worse with us than they were at previous stops?

Way to set him straight, Mrs. Boals
Fans calling out the problems with the program certainly DID cause said issues.
You know how Evans is shooting 16% from three? My fault. I caused that.
Breath shooting 40% at the free throw line? Yep, my bad.
We would be in first place instead of fiami if we would just take a blind leap of faith behind this staff. Seriously, they are doing a 110% perfect job.

anybody wondering what schools are thinking about making an offer to travis steel? he ,herb sendek and charlie coles have been the best miami coaches. i believe sendek had the best recruits though. guys like wally szerbiac ,devon davis, damon frierson, and jamie mahaffey prove that. how soon would wally have hit the portal if it existed.same with mahaffey cross and frierson. at this point i feel miami has done enough to deserve an at large bid. but you know those selection makers . miami will probably be denied an at large if they lose a game in conference tourney
The last computer model brackets I saw yesterday had Akron in as I think as 12 and no fiami. Not even a play-in game 30 miles from them. Even though their chicken-hawk out of conference schedule does sort of make them the naked emperor's new clothes of college ball, ESPN has this sudden raging arousal for them and would put heat on the NCAA to at least give them a virtual home game in Dayton you might think.
Sort of reminds me of several years ago when Davidson (I think it was the Curry days) was undefeated in conference play. They were either 16-0 or 18-0 in their conference. The Bracketology before their conference tournament started showed them on the bubble. I mean if you aren't somewhat of a lock to make the tourney with an undefeated conference record, why are we playing conference games? It's the reality of the state of college basketball, and has been for years, that small conference teams get almost zero respect.
As much as I dislike Miami, if they go undefeated through conference play and lose to Akron in the MAC final in Cleveland, they had better be getting a spot in the dance. I'm sure a .500 SEC/Big 10/ACC team would get in over them, though.
Miami going unbeaten or with only one regular season loss and losing to Akron in the tourney finals is the best shot the MAC has at two teams getting in the big dance since 1999.

I agree. And I don't think it's that unlikely. I watch Akron and I think they definitely have a squad that can beat Miami. Kent, obviously, had Miami by the throat and gacked that game away. But, if Kent ends up as the 3 seed, Fiami won't have to face Akron AND Kent in Cleveland, it will be one or the other. Big advantage.
I'd like to think an undefeated regular season and loss in conference tourney final, that would essentially be a road game against Akron/Kent, and Fiami would still get in. But I wouldn't say it's 100%.
