Just now logging on but that was one of the least memorable games I've been to. Crowd was decent sized but not loud. Students showed up but were gone after awhile. Best part of the day was the weather. Oh well, take the win and on to conference play.

Oh yeah, almost forgot the kid under the Sook center that took off with the XP ball, that was down right hilarious if anybody saw that.
I thought that for a game that wasn't the home opener, homecoming, or against a big rival that it was a pretty good crowd.
It was a fine crowd, especially on the home side, just not a lot of energy. I think most people who follow along were expecting this game to be over by halftime.

Re-watched some of the highlights today. I know Mattix is a 3-3-5 guy but it looks like we play the 4-2-5 a lot better. A lot of the QB pressures and run stopping came from the 4-2-5. Hopefully we start running it more often. Also, I think Hackleman can be Wigz 2.0.

Having witnessed a 31-0 drubbing at the hands of Northeastern, who no longer has a program, in 2002...
Back then, we would go to games for the band, maybe to see a star opposing player (Big Ben, Byron Leftwich, etc...), or just to see if the cheer squad could throw one of those little white footballs out of Peden (they often tried). Not many other quality reasons for attendance in that dark era.
I'm not sure that's entirely fair though, your statement is more late 80s and early 90s as the true dark ages of Ohio football. We had a solid run 96-00. 01 was rough after Grobe left, but the 2002 team wasn't that awful. Ended 4-4 in the MAC. In week 1 we only lost by 13 @ Pitt, so even though it wasn't exactly in the glory days it was still a horrifically terrible performance. I was a student and stayed the whole game.

Yeah, that team hit rock bottom early but actually recovered nicely (after completely changing the offense back to the wishbone I think). it actually looked like Knorr was righting the ship at the end of year 2.
