ATHENS – Saturday’s matchup between Ohio and Western Michigan pitted one of the Mid-American Conference’s best offenses against one of the league’s best defenses, and for the better part of one half, the Bobcats defense prevailed.
But once the Broncos got going, they did not stop, especially on the ground. Western Michigan racked up 401 of its 430 rushing yards in the second half and blew away Ohio after the break in a 49-14 win.

ATHENS – Ohio’s defense dominated again, and the Bobcats defeated Miami for the ninth time in the last 10 meetings, 34-3, on Saturday at Peden Stadium.
The Bobcats picked off freshman quarterback Billy Bahl four times, limited the RedHawks to 253 yards of offense, kept an opponent out of the end zone for the second straight game and had its biggest margin of victory in the Battle of the Bricks.
Quentin Poling returned a pick 25 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the second half. Ia...
AKRON – Ohio’s offense built an early lead, and the defense kept Akron out of the end zone to beat the Zips for the eighth straight time, 14-12, on Saturday at InfoCision Stadium.
Akron outgained Ohio 319-227 in chilly, wet and windy conditions, but settled for four Robert Stein field goals. The final one was a 30-yarder with 3:55 remaining and then forced a three-and-out by the Bobcats, but a Quentin Poling sack set back the Zips, and Ian Wells broke up a fourth-down pass with 1:09 remaining...
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota scored to go ahead with 30 seconds left, and the Golden Gophers held on to give Ohio its first loss of the season, 27-24, on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
Shannon Brooks scored on a 3-yard run that capped an 11-play, 78-yard drive that turned a four-point Minnesota deficit into a three-point lead and ultimately the win, but it was far from over then. Daz’mond Patterson’s 56-yard kick return gave the Bobcats (3-1) possession at the Minnesota 43-yard line.

ATHENS – With Southeastern Louisiana stuffing the box, Ohio relied on big plays and defense. The Bobcats scored three long touchdowns and got a spark from redshirt freshman Papi White just when they needed it in a 35-14 victory against the Lions on Saturday at Peden Stadium.
Ohio (3-0) led 21-0 at halftime, but SLU (2-1) made a game of it with consecutive scores in the second half. But just when it seemed the momentum was shifting, White struck with one of the Bobcats’ only successful run pla...
ATHENS – A year after being torched by Marshall, the Ohio defense dominated the Thundering Herd and led the way as the Bobcats won the final Battle for the Bell for four years, 21-10, on Saturday night at Peden Stadium.
Ohio limited Marshall to just 262 yards and forced four turnovers. The offense, solid in the first half, scuttled in the second half but managed a game-clinching drive in the closing minutes.
"We went ahead in the series and got “the Bell” back,” Ohio coach Frank Solich sai...
MOSCOW, Idaho – Ohio opened its season with a 45-28 victory against Idaho on Thursday night at the Kibbie Dome.
The Bobcats (1-0) scored the first 21 points, and the Vandals (0-1) only got as close as 10 points late in the fourth quarter.
Derrius Vick threw touchdown passes of 6 yards to Brendan Cope and 15 yards to Jordan Reid, and Jovon Johnson returned an interception 29 yards for a score as Ohio took control early.
Tight end Keith Heitzman added a 2-yard touchdown reception from J.D...
