E. Freeman lock for POY, but who's your coach and frosh of the year? Boals has to get consideration. I really like Simmons at UT, an old-school big man with his work around the rim and his 1970s afro. A true throwback.

My "vote" is for Boals, but I think Barbee gets it. Level of expectations have a lot to do with it. Boals is already perceived to have had Ohio in the upper tier of the MAC; Barbee had to bring them from the bottom. I don't think that's fair, because it ignores the coaching job that had to be done with the roster as it is. Boals coached up a bunch of guards mid-season and got them to defend while CMU ran out of gas. I don't think CMU falling behind Ohio changes people's minds, unfortunately.

AJ Clayton has to be 1st Team All-MAC right?

I would be shocked if they put him 1st team. It is extremely driven by the stat leaderboards. Clayton is 23rd in both scoring & rebounds. A deeper dive would show he has a great FG % from all over the court, plays great defense, etc. But MAC voters aren't smart enough for that level of depth.

Jaylin is first in the MAC in assists and A/TO ratio while sitting 13th in scoring. And 3rd in steals. He might have a better shot than Clayton at first team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them both on 2nd team.

I think Raheim Moss is probably a smart pick, leader of the regular season champs.
Unfortunately we could see the excessive shot takers of the league like Marcus Hill (BG), Chatman (Buffalo), Coit (NIU), Acuff (EMU) grab 1st team spots along with the obvious pick of Freeman.

Wiz for 6th man, obviously.

1st Team: Jaylin
3rd Team: AJ Clayton

Boals should get COY but will probably go to Barbee or Kowalczyk. No frosh for us. No 6th man although Ajay has been great off the bench.

Feel like 3rd team is probably a stretch.

Marcus Hill averages more rebounds.

23rd in rebounds is gonna be a tough sell for a forward.

Freeman. Bisheer Jihad. Sy Chatman. Agee. Kid from Toledo.

Maybe 3rd if they look at our record and play down the stretch, take in the full picture.

I forget, do they do all defense? If so AJC has to be on it right? Is Reef or Jaylin also?

I believe they do one defensive team.

Certainly, don't think it's open and shut, but maybe. AJC is up there in blocks... but I dont know... Freeman has a stronghold on one spot, and who knows what they plan to do with that 2nd F... I feel like Sy Chatman and Basheer have the edge on him defensively as well. You never know what voters are looking for, but Chatman has a better defensive rating. I found a stat called "defensive win shares" (wins attributed due to defense) and AJC has a slight edge, but OU is a way better team so wouldn't that be skewed if your team is good?

We're in a bubble so I dont know what kind of national name recognition he has amongst voters and coaches, but if someone is just looking at a stat sheet I'm not sure AJC is jumping out.

Hunter 2nd team, AJC 3rd team.

That's the extent of it for Ohio, looks like.

I don't like taking too much stock in these, but that's a whole lot of Toledo and makes me wonder if anyone who voted for this watched anyone but Toledo.

Thr coaches select these.

I don't have a problem with the choices, excepr I think Reef Mutchell deserves recognition for his defense.

I think Jaylin last three games was nail in coffin preventing him from 1st team.

I don't usually pour out a little for another team, but Sy Chatman robbery. Buffalo being horrible shouldn't take away from how good he has been this season. 5th in scoring. 8th in rebounds. 3rd in blocks.

18.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 blocks

Even Mirambeubs got honorable mention for 12/3. Very guard heavy on these teams.

No surprise about Barbee or Freeman. Would like to see where Boals ended up on that list.

*edit* I didn't even pay attention to Ali Ali up there. Ali Ali IS talented, but 1st team? Ridiculous. Basheer should be that 2nd "forward", though it seems like they went out of there way not to include forwards.

Shareef not even honorable mention is also silly.

Hard to argue with coaches votes, but a clear lack of respect for production on the floor.

Yeah Sy Chatman is the only real NBA talent in the league IMO, and he got absolutely nothing. Criminal.

Can someone fill me in on why Sy Chatman is an NBA talent? Bench player at Umass, bench player at Illinois State, solid player on terrible team. An NBA talent could've presumably went anywhere for his final year, he chose lowly Buffalo. A 6'8" forward. How? Why? What am I missing?

For starters he's 6'8 230 and athletic. You don't make the league without size and athleticism. He's big and physical enough to get rebounds and block shots at the next level. Combine that with the fact he can dribble drive, rise and finish at the rim, and also has a good jumper out to 18 feet means he's not stuck as a back to the basket guy. Everyone in the NBA 1-5 has to be able to shoot, and he can.

His age and coming from mid major will work against him. He'll also need to develop his 3pt shot. His stats arent eye popping but hes a contributor at 18 and 6 with 2 blocks per game so he can score and defend. As a 2nd day or FA guy, he's got a shot IMO.

Nobody else in the MAC fits NBA profiles. Freeman is too thin and doesn't have a good enough face up game (handles or shot).

So would you say this was a breakout season for him in his 5th year? A year ago he was just another run of the mill big in the transfer portal from Illinois State? And this 1 season at Buffalo has flipped him to an NBA prospect?

I just don't see it.

My one disagreement would be Ali Ali Ali (1st team) and Agee (2nd team) trading honors. Agee has played like a man all year for BG.

Prior to this year he had 24 starts. This year he had 31. Prior to this year he had 5 3pt made. This year he had 37. This year he scored 553 of his career 998 points.

So yeah, this was definitely his breakout year in terms of production.

But that is kind of my point. We keep hearing he has this NBA game that is obvious on the court, yet he was given almost no opportunity until joining a lowly Buffalo team. It doesn't make sense. At least with Emoni Bates there was a history there that added context to why he was meddling on a weak MAC team.

I'm not fit to judge NBA talent or not, but also, Jason Preston.

Also, Ira **cking Newble.

Life is all about opportunity, Andrew.

How many people looked (or didn't look) at Marcus Hill because he was meddling on a weak JUCO team?
