I'm mostly a BA lurker, but since no one has stepped up with this topic yet, I guess I'll have to do it myself:

What is your favorite Convo memory of the last 50 years? (Besides getting a hanging scoreboard...) Share below...

Beating Rick Mount and the Purdue Boilermakers (#13), and beating Ohio State (#16) in the 1969-70. Two games I witnessed personally, and will never forget. Also, the MAC championship deciding game against Bowling Green, I had my little sister there with me for Little Sisters Day. Largest crowd ever in the history of the Convo. People hanging off the rafters.

Thanks for starting this. Mine are since 1995, but here goes, in no particular order:

-The Geno dribble out the clock game in, I think 1996.
-The Marshall game from 12-13 when DJ had something like 19 assists, including a no look, behind the back to Walt.
-1996 or 97 - what I call the Antonio Daniels game vs BG in OT.
-The same year, I think, when Bonzi and Ball State came to town, and he put on a SHOW.
-Some Shaun Stonerook games where he just flat cleaned the glass and dominated.
-The first time in the mid 2005-2008 time frame, that I witnessed 500+ students doing "Winning Team, Losing Team." Gives me grins, laughs, and chills every single time, still to this day.
-2010 - I think, When Tommy drains the three to beat Miami at the buzzer.
-2012 - Gary Trent Day
-2013 - OU vs Akron in OT in the 'Battle for the MAC'. Still the largest week night crowd I can remember, and the best game atmosphere in Athens I've ever seen.
-2012 or 2013 - when Stevie Taylor hit the 3 vs Kent on ESPNU in overtime.
-2015 - when Bean goes off for 10 three's on Senior Day against Miami.

I'm sure there are more, but those come to mind immediately without any real research.


Lastly, and probably most important: My own Commencement with friends who have become lifelong friends. Equal parts the most proud & exciting day, and at the time, maybe the saddest day, of my young life. Leaving A-town every spring was always a little sad. This one was more so because of the finality of leaving the "Four Year Heaven". (or five in my case)

My favorite memory isn't inside, but outside.

I'll never forget seeing the sun shining on the roof when my parents and I drove into Athens for pre-college.

First time I had seen O.U. in person.
The Convo was the first building I saw.
It was a "wow" moment.

I had never heard of O.U., till my H.S. guidance counselor suggested it.
She said she thought it would be a good fit for me.

As soon as I saw the Convo I knew I made the right choice.

I’d have to go with the Stevie Taylor game winning three against Kent. I remember DJ fouling out and hoping Stevie could bring us home happy and he definitely did!

Ditto as to the DePaul game!

My 2nd favorite was sometime in '83 or '84, OU vs. Western Michigan. Melvin "Sugar" McLaughlin was going off against OU in the 1st half, hitting every shot he took, it seemed. So I decide to just shout "shoot" every time he touched the ball in the 2nd half, even if he took the ball out. After a little bit others in the crowd joined in and were really loud. As my foggy recollection goes, McLaughlin couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the 2nd half. Good times.

Beating DePaul on Valentine's Day 1983. It was something to behold for someone still getting use to college. The idea that I could walk to every home game and see a Bobcat team on the rise like this, especially when Coach Ray Meyer was already a legend having brought the Blue Demons to the Final Four (the first time during the Second World War.) Everybody knew about DePaul back in the day.

Secondly Miami (Jamuary 1986.) Even though it was a a loss, but to see the likes of Ron Harper (who played in the NBA until 2001) and Bobcat Freshmen Snoopy Graham and Dave Jamerson (also two future NBA players) on the same floor before a nearly packed Convo on a Wednesday night! I honestly thought the sky was the limit for the Bobcats. In my naive mind, Coach Nee was going to stay and we were going to be a national powerhouse, and of course those near sellout crowds were going to be the norm. Even after Coach Nee left and Asst. Billy Hahn was named head coach, I still thought the sky was the limit. In my seemingly rational thoughts, the Bobcats were like an up and coming band that you could tell everyone you knew when no one else did. Naturally, I was going to drive down for every sold out game and tell everyone I remember when the Cats weren't such a big deal. Oh well it's nice to be young and naive as long as you don't have to make important decisions and then it becomes dangerous, but the important decisions were still a few months away. If only the Bobcats of my naive hopes came to fruition!!!!

1982 Ohio-DePaul game was played at All-State Arena in Chicago and Ohio lost badly.

A year later, however, was a special Valentine's game in a sold-out Convo that saw John Devereaux and Victor Alexander lead Ohio over Ray Meyer and the Blue Demons.

The Bowling Green game when Trent went off for 46. That was against a pretty good BG team too and he was unstoppable that day. It was also either Sibs weekend or Dad's weekend (can't remember which) and the Convo was packed and it had the feel of a real big-time game and program.

That day was the first game I ever saw in the Convo. I had never been on a college campus before and it looked and felt exactly how I believed a college campus would. I decided on the way home I wanted to attend OU. I didn't even apply to any other school.

Been following both the men and women since the Walter Luckett era. Lots of great memories shared above, although I missed the Jamerson 3-point shooting show game due to a conference.

The women also had many moments: certainly the Caroline Mast era was special, including a home NCAA tourney game against Illinois. And one of my favorite memories was when All Mac Jennifer Bushby took her last shot ever in the Convo, a
3 pointer at the buzzer that beat Buffalo 61-58.

I was there too! A most excellent 63-62 win for the Cats. At one point during the game, Ray Meyer (Depaul coach) looked up at the scoreboard...except there wasn't a center hung scoreboard back then lol. Well, now we have one! :-)
