We will be the Titans 7th MAC opponent this season. They are currently 2-4 against the MAC with wins against BG and EMU and losses to WMU, Kent St, Akron and Toledo.

KenPom rankings

Detroit
Adjusted Offense: 217
Adjusted Defense: 328
Adjusted Tempo: 140

Ohio
Adjusted Offense: 239
Adjusted Defense: 90
Adjusted Tempo: 15

Ohio should just have to play its game as they've been playing and they'll be fine. Get a road win after passing finals and go into Purdue with some momentum.

In talking with some of my friends who are UD alums (I think Dayton won by some 30 points,) it sounds like we should be able to feed the ball inside to Jason Carter. Once get that inside game established, I think we can work on dribble penetration and outside shot selection and we should be in good shape. If I remember correctly, Detroit might have been scoreless in the paint for one of the halves. This might be a game for the defense to shine and take a positive outcome from on the road.

Last time we played at Detroit, Jeremy Fears hit a fadeaway three game winner on Bracketbuster Saturday. We were down two starters to injury that day, IIRC.

Then proceeded to backflip, correct?

That was the first backflip of the year.

This is a really important game. A loss will feel like a big reality check thud while a win will feel like validation that we can get it done on the road.

Agreed. Any momentum that we've built will have gone out the window with an L.

I was there along with a nice contingent of Bobcat fans. We trailed the entire game and our first lead was when Fears hit that long shot to win the game...then the backflip.

According to Sagarin, the Bobcats will be favored by 3 vs Detroit. Since we havent yet proven we can win away from the Convo, I'll be very concerned going into this game until we actually secure the win.

I remember fighting a crackly, intermittent internet feed of that Fears game winner. It went out and then randomly buffered back in just in time to hear Derek Scott screaming.

I think this accurately sums up how we all feel about this one.

This x10.

Not to mention it will most likely determine the ultimate "tone" of the non-con schedule.

We sit at 6-3. Purdue game will most likely be an L. Florida Int'l will most likely be a W. That puts us 7-4 with this game as the swing game between a very mediocre 7-5 or a more solid 8-4.

Saw UDM play at UD and thought they were one of the worst defensive teams I've seen in awhile. They gave up easy baskets on baseline out-of-bounds plays that 4th grade teams could defend. For the night, they gave up 12 UD dunks (new team record). The next night (odd that they played back-to-back days) they gave up 101 to Toledo.

KenPom has them giving up 111.3 points per 100 possessions (ranks 325th nationally). They allow teams to rebound 40.2% of their misses (ranks 352nd) and allow 55.3% shooting on twos (296th nationally)..

The Titans are coached by former IU (then UAB and then Texas Southern) coach Mike Davis. His son (another son Mike Jr. is an assistant) Antoine is a freshman and is secong in the nation in scoring at 27.4 PPG. He takes 40% of his team's shots (3rd nationally) and can shoot it from three (54-122 for 44.3%).

I'd love to see Murrell get some PT in this game. I watch warm ups and the kid can shoot the ball. We need more of that on the floor, especially with Jimmy G and Dartis out. I heard Saul mention in one of the last postgame interviews that he had been playing well in practice and should see some minutes. My guesses, being a non-present person at practice and going by what I see in meaningless warm ups, is he could be a defensive liability or he simply can't get his shot off quick enough against live competition. I'd also guess that we'll need a comfortable lead for him to see the floor, so hopefully that happens, too.

I was surprised when Saul said in the postgame he needed to get at least one more guy out there. He usually sticks to his guns and doesn't budge on that. Murrell would be nice with his shooting ability, but you may be correct on what's holding him back. He has to prove he can do it in the games too. There have been a ton of guys who looked great in practice and warmups.

Detroit has already played 6 games against MAC opponents, so this will be a great gauge for MAC play. They are 2-4.(wins over BG and EMU)(losses to WMU, Akron, Kent, Toledo)

Decent first half trying to figure out the zone. Just keep being patient and work through it. Like a damn dental exam.

Speaking of Murrell though, had some good minutes and hit a nice 3.

Even better into H2. TO's ongoing concern though
