Larry Hunter was the first coach I ever covered. Taught me a lot about basketball and gave me and @GregGraziano one of the best lines before the @OhioBobcats ‘94 NCAA tourney game: “Don’t piss down your legs cuz we’re not gonna piss down ours.” RIP pic.twitter.com/OL35QgGnfJ— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) May 4, 2018

A 1976 @daytondailynews story on @WittenbergHoops' hiring of Larry Hunter, who was 26 years old when he got the job. Thirteen years later, he would be the fourth of five straight coaches to leave Wittenberg for a Division I job. pic.twitter.com/ZftqTpNN23— David Jablonski (@DavidPJablonski) May 4, 2018

Really hard day for me. I Loved Coach Hunter. I played and worked for him. He would always say: "Make Him Taste the Leather". He taught me how to compete with toughness on and off the court! Coach Hunter loved his players, coaches and their families. We were his children. pic.twitter.com/i8itgIZL9L— Reggie Rankin (@ReggieRankin) May 4, 2018

Surreal feeling. RIP to my coach Larry Hunter. Old school, always got his teams to compete at a high level. You’ve impacted a lot of young men during your coaching career. Hard to believe what happened. The coaching profession lost a great one.— Jeff Boals (@JeffBoals) May 4, 2018

RIP Coach. You taught me to be mentally/physically tough. Anyone who spent time with you knew how to compete. Proud to say I played for the Hunt Dog!— Dustin Ford (@Dustin_Ford) May 4, 2018

The passing of Coach Larry Hunter is extremely sad. He gave his heart, soul and passion to the coaching profession and ALWAYS had time and encouraging words for his peers. I followed him since I was a kid when he was at Wittenberg. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us.— Tom Crean (@TomCrean) May 4, 2018

Everyday before Winthrop basketball practice, our team makes one trip around the court without touching the out of bounds lines. This is to signify that "we don't cut corners." Was given to me by Larry Hunter in a random conversation in 2014. He will be missed in our profession.— Pat Kelsey (@patkelsey) May 4, 2018
