And not one word about academics. Is he working on his Ph.D. yet?

He should have a PhD by then!

But, when you think about it, it’s not about graduating and getting a degree, it’s all about the money.

That so last decade, as are little things like attending classes, studying for exams, or anything academic. Student athlete has been replaced by paid gladiator!

Let's hope the initial vote to advance S.4668 - Protect College Sports Act of 2026 makes it forward in the next week or so.

What may happen is athletes become paid employees of the university and attending class will not be mandatory.

That appears to be the direction we are headed, unless the cavalry (aka Congress) comes to the rescue. If what you say does become reality, I predict all kinds of legal chaos, including the questioning of the legality of non-profit educational institutions running pro football and basketball teams.

Also, how many “non profit” organizations are paying someone 10M? The same is true of healthcare groups paying outrageous salaries, yet paying no taxes as “nonprofit”.

I read the title and immediately wondered what charges were brought against the PSU linebacker. Oops.

Yes, the concept of non-profit has been greatly abused in many aspects of U.S. life these days, not the least of which is the proliferation of so-called NGOs.
