After the disappointing end to the season, I found it a minor victory to see the Cats
wee coming to Boise to play. This was the first year since I moved to Bozeman

that I didn’t make it back home for a visit and to catch a game and some beers in Athens,

still bumming. From what I got to see on TV this year, it seems to be the best Bobcat team I have ever

watched. Yeah, going to Boise won’t exactly be sitting next to the pool having drinks the morning before the

game, but football in the mountains in December always keeps the beer cold. I have one OU alum here in

Bozeman who is heading down with me, I hope to run into other OU folks from this area to cheer on the cats.
At least the trip will be affordable for a very few of us.

Does anybody know any links to find out info on any activities for cat fans, or any bars that are having pre-game
festivities for bobcat fans?

I see some Utah State Threads on here asking us not to confuse them with BYU or Utah. Thin line. I am suprised bowl committees select teams from Utah to come play.

Any football fan from the state of Utah brings 2 things to a bowl game, the ten commandments and a $20 bill,

and they don’t break either one.

Go Bobcats

I guess living in Montana that is the one place you have say you're a fan of OHIO instead of the Bobcats so as not to get confused with Montana State. The biggest hurdle I see in traveling to Boise is not the cost so much as its 7 hour flight. For that length of time in the air i could be anywhere in Western Europe. If you are talking about flying in there from out west then its a nothing 2-3 hour flight. There is a significant alumni base of 3500 Ohio grads in the Oregon-Washington area that could turn out for this game.

I was noticing on the map how small Boise is. Its only 2 miles or so from the Boise airport to Bronco Stadium and downtown. You could fly into Boise and not have to deal with a rental car if you didn't want to. Take a cab from the airport to the hotel and walk to the stadium. There doesn't seem like a lot to do in Boise proper but if you are going to the game and the Bobcat bash that will give you a few things to do. They offer a few tours of the city including Christmas lights for the kids. I would not spend the money to bring the kids at 400-500 per ticket to Boise but case in point.

Yeah, I've gotten that for years. I actually got my masters in engineering at MSU so I am a Bobcat twice over. I think there actually is some connection from OU to MSU. Same mascot, same fight song, amongst others. When forming the University here, I think MSU must have had some kind of influence from people who originated
in the athens area. Anyway, driving down from Bozeman is about a 6 hour drive, so not bad at all. I can see how coming from back there could be a pain.

The drive times that people are quoting here from Portland, Salt Lake, Montana are 6 hours. I think that is because the speed limit is 80 mph out west and you are still talking about 350-400 miles. For most people the best deal is to fly into Boise a day early to get a cheaper flight since the hotels are inexpensive. Though if you want to toy around with a rental car and do some sight seeing then you may as well go into Salt Lake or Portland to save an extra 100 dollars.
