Does anyone know if there is a buy in for the WNIT? From what I have heard the NCAA WBIT womens tourney is more prestigious now. Also any reason why UMASS or Ball State women not in the post season other than the university refused those invitees?

There is a buy-in. Which would make the ability to purchase tickets pretty important to the host team (us). As of now, I see no way to do that...

Ball State put out a statement expressing disappointment that they were not invited to the WBIT and they also thought the WNIT competition level was beneath them.

I was able to find this article from last season, which references the WNIT manual. However, the link to the WNIT manual is now dead, and I can't find one on their current web site, so I don't know what may have possibly changed in one season. Nonetheless:

"The WNIT manual reads that a school pays $10,000 to host a second-round game OR 85 percent of the first $30,000 made in net revenue. Any amount over $30,000 and 55 percent goes to the WNIT. The final dollar amount is whichever is higher. ...

No information is given for the first round game, with the team in question having received a first round bye. But a separate search showed that the home team has to cover the visiting team's costs. To keep those down, it makes sense that a fairly close geographical opponent was selected. Google AI suggested that amount might be from $6500 to $7000.

I suspect based on some limited inside information that whatever we are paying for the WNIT bid is not primarily, if at all, coming from the AD's budget.

It looks like she was 20+ minute per game player her freshman season and shot well on the perimeter, 38% from three. Got her minutes cut all last year and shot terribly when she did play. Still haven't heard about any departures from the team. ReRe Jennings had entered the portal but pulled her name back out of it.

I was hoping for a portal big but it looks like the help there will solely come from the return of Cassidy Lafler from her injury in the first few minutes of last season. If she returns, walk-on Madison Lim returns, and there are no unexpected departures, that would put the team at its limit of 15 players.
