This thread is why Ohio coaches should look to immediately leave after winning the MAC tournament or just having some consistent success. Leave for another head coaching gig well paying assistant gig.

Not seeing much fundraising prowess thus far. He came from a school that had 1 major in-state competitor. Ohio has 14 state universities. He doesn't know who the donors are, hasn't connected with them, and seems comfortable turning over fundraising to the University Development team on College Green. And those folks aren't interested in building and maintaining the strong base of mid-level contributors necessary to fund a decent NIL pool and/or sensible facility upgrades. They're looking for one-time wins that'll get them jobs at a BIG school.

Just looking at this online resume, which includes this sentence: "Larscheid previously held positions as a fundraiser at South Dakota State University, Northern Illinois University and the University of South Dakota."

Fund raising for a player and fundraising for an institution are two completely different things. The former tends to attract money from folks with a vested interest and deeper pockets while the latter tends to attract money from people of more modest means who believe in the mission of the organization where their donation helps to insure the sustainability of the institution or organization. Huge difference.

Fire Conners and Breath before firing Boals. You can put the blame on coach for bringing them in but I remember everybody rejoicing these guys. WTF happened.

Dior Conners might be the worst basketball player I've seen in green and white.

What happened? The only common denominator is Boals. Both Conners and Breath were far more productive at their previous schools against tougher competition as starters. He doesn’t know how to use the roster he has.

This is silly, honestly. He's not the worst player on our roster, and he's shown plenty of strong flashes. He should be getting more time, as should Breath.

Boals has never shown he can manage a bench. He always ends up with a crazy short rotation, and nobody outside of his core group can ever develop or find a rhythm.

Why are Breath and Connors substantially worse playing for Boals than they have been in their careers prior?

If you have a down season or 1-2 “average” seasons the good-times-only-fans are out for blood. Move up and on instead.

He makes $900k. Don't you think a $900k job should come with expectations? He's in year 7, trending the wrong way, and won a conference tournament with a team where the best players were recruited by someone else.

Post of the year? More like most predictable post of the year. I'm just surprised giacomo didn't give us his more predictable "que sera, sera" post or "send in the clowns" post. He likes to criticize Bobcat fans who are critical of Ohio football or basketball teams/players/coaches, but he never explains his reasons for doing so.

So if the fans calling for Boals' job (which I am not yet in that camp) are know-nothing fans, please educate them and me on why Boals should not be on the hot seat. It's easy to criticize these know-nothing fans, but why are they wrong for not being happy with where Boals has the basketball program in year 7?

I'd put the odds of a new coach for the 2026-27 season at 70 percent. I could be wrong, but that's what my gut tells me. Like others have said, I was initially a big Boals fan, but he seems unable to win with his own players. He did well with Saul's recruits. There is just something very stale about the program now.

Meanwhile, back in sucksville, Oxford Tech is 16-0 and getting votes for the Top 25. That, in the words of my former protege, Chuck Landon, is Unacceptable! We can never be second fiddle to that school. Let me say it again, that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

OCF- Do you know what the buyout is? The former AD extended Coach Boals and made him the top paid conference coach a few years ago.

He's signed to 2028 and the buyout after this year is $900,000.

Very notable that the people trying to defend Boals aren't actually making the case as to why it's ridiculous to be disappointed in his performance.

What's the case that the program is in good shape?

Or, do people just like Jeff Boals enough that they're willing to lower the bar for him?

"Know-nothing fans."

People was call a 4ppg reserve guard mister walking bucket.
People who couldn't admit the Bahamas trip guy was a hopeless scrub anyway.
People who compared Nate Springs to Kevin Durant.

etc.etc.etc.

I could keep going but selective amnesia would be invoked by the guilty fans.

Not even close.

"Walking bucket" was sarcasm, said in jest.
What people (plural) were optimistic of IJ Ezuma as a Bobcat?
What people (not on the coaching staff) compared Springs to Durant?

And please don't confuse one fan (singular) with know-nothing fans (plural).

I would not consider those on BA calling for Boals to be fired (again, I'm not one of them. . . yet) to be know-nothing fans. Just like I don't consider BTC and giacomo to be know-nothing fans. However, I would like to see BTC or giacomo list reasons why Boals' seat should not be getting a little bit warm in year 7.

And one thing that hasn't been discussed is attendance. High game of the year - 5545 vs Arkansas State which was the first game. We haven't broken 4000 since and the average through 10 home games is 3394. This may be the lowest attendance we've had since the days of Dale Bandy.

Thats on the administration and university for not doing more to market basketball which in turn opens up th opportunity for more NIL funds.

So share with us four or five marketing ideas/programs you would roll out to put butts in the seats.

If NIL funding is the issue, why is the football team able to find enough guys to play on a very high level in the MAC and consistently win bowl games? Jeff Boals can coach. My issues have been his seeming disregard for athleticism, and height/length, particularly in the front court. It sure doesn't appear to be a priority among the players signed and recruited. When I covered the NY Knicks' beat for Newsday (NY) around 1984, I remember GM Dave DeBusschere got tired of watching opponents rise up and over his players on the glass on a consistent basis. Eventually he would say to the media, "I've gotta get me some live bodies!" And he did. That's what we need...

Boals Won MAC tourney. Finished 3rd (which gets you a bowl game in football), then 5th (maybe a bowl game), then 2nd (which means MACC appearance and bowl game in football), then 4th (… and another bowl game..)….. Maybe basketball needs bowl games instead….

Things have changed. The NIL $ should be listed next to conference records in the standings…..

Under Boals Ohio is a threat to win MACC most years as a top 3-4 team. He will get several more years before his seat is hot….

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Nobody paying attention believes this has been true for three years now. It's not true this year, and it certainly won't be true next year.
