Per Yahoo Sports:

Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson is a name on the lips of a lot of college coaches as a transfer possibility. A third party has been gathering information for him on his future, as his options include staying at Buffalo, transferring to a Power Five school where he’d be immediately eligible or potentially going to the NFL.

“There’s a lot of moving parts,” said a source with knowledge of the situation. “He’s got a bowl game to play, then he’s going to look at his options.”

Jackson is intriguing, as he’s 6-foot-7, 245 pounds and has a body prototype the NFL likes. He also has mechanical flaws – including a long release – that make the NFL a reach in this draft cycle. His issues with accuracy (55 percent completions) and consistency don’t ensure a seamless transition to a Power Five school. Jackson led Buffalo to a 10-3 season, throwing for 2,857 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Buffalo coach Lance Leipold said that Jackson is focused on beating Troy in the Dollar General Bowl. Leipold added that Jackson has told him he’s going to sit down with his family and figure out his future after the bowl game.

He needs to hire a personal qb coach and stay at Buffalo. Learn from Jaaron, he will have to compete at a bigger school and the moment that he does something wrong, he will be benched, he will go from a sure fire 5th rounder to an undead Ted free agent. Whatever you do don’t go to an SEC school, they will Burrow you. Burrow has tremendous talent at LSU, but the play calling is awful. Work on your mechanics and beat the big schools like Nate will do next year.

Buffalo scheme fits well with NFL. He just doesn't have the QB coach like Isphording that can help with release and follow through. Riley from Ball State chose Vanderbilt. He should look at an ACC school like NC State, UNC or even GA Tech as they are moving away from option to a passing scheme.

He should play another year at Buffalo. Transfer for one year can be chaotic. He has great size and speed but IMHO is not a finished product as a QB.

I also think he should and would like to see him stay at UB as well. But I think he's going to leave.

Staying at Buffalo is not going to help his draft stock. Granted I want him to stay because of his inaccuracy which will help us when we play him but the kid has a tremendous upbringing. He just got baptized this year. He does community events as well. He should leave Buffalo and go to better school with a better QB coach. I want to see him in the ACC. Miami, Duke and Wake Forest would be good schools too. All looking for QBs.

This the same thing that jaaron fell for, he can be a first round pick coming from buffalo, if he fixes his throwing motions and gets more accurate, he can also become a backup at a big school if he misses a few throws. Corey Davis was a first round pick along with Mack and fisher, he doesn’t have to go anywhere. For Ohio’s sake, I want him to leave but it is a dump decision. JT Barrett broke all the passing records at pay and didn’t get drafted. He needs to fix his throwing motion and continue to excel at Buffalo.

I am not buying the idea that Jackson would improve his draft status by transferring to a bigger school. I am not sure whether you guys are familiar with a quarterback by the name of Ben Roethlisberger, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round (11th overall) in 2004. Oh, yeah, he played for a rival MAC school, who's name I refuse to say. That didn't seem to harm his draft status at all nor did it seem to harm his success in the NFL. In addition, Big Ben is still starting in the NFL (as most of you know).

Jackson has a place now where he can continue to showcase his talent just fine; in fact, he can continue to wet the appetite of NFL scouts by putting up big numbers in the MAC. Even the experts acknowledge that nobody knows for sure who is going to make it in the NFL and who isn't, but I don't buy the argument that continuing to play at Buffalo is going to hurt his draft status one iota. Even if this guy was playing on a little known Football Club on an isolated South Seas Island, the NFL would know about him, and they would still give him a shot.

The only reason for Jackson to transfer would be to advance his academic career in case his football dream does not pan out.

I would agree that he can be drafted from a MAC school. Players get drafted from MAC schools all the time. The question is, how good is the QB coach at Buffalo, versus at the school where he might transfer? That's a question I don't know the answer to, and the one he has to answer in order to make the correct decision.

Perhaps he remembers Cam Newton transferring to Auburn and this year Joe Burrow and hopes for such an opportunity. Dreams. He may feel Buffalo in 2019 will not be better. End of 2018 Buffalo loses 3 of 4. Buffalo's defense loses 8 starters. He still has not beaten NIU, Ohio & Miami both finish streaks of W3. If a conference contending ranked team needs a QB, like LSU in 2018, I can see him moving.

Cam Newton and burrow did not start and were not pro prospects already. Cam had to transfer after he went to junior college, they have a two year limit. Burrow never started and then transferred to a school that had their top wide receivers transfer out and now plays in a very conservative offense that is not properly using his skill set. I think we need to find a better example.

If Anthony Johnson were to stay then MAYBE. But Tyree has been there for 3 years and is still inaccurate. So one more year and he throws 70% and gets drafted? I doubt it. And Big Ben was way more accurate than Tyree's 55% in a 3 year span. I know because I played against ROTH. Tyree's stock will drop if he stays. Buffalo is not helping him as he throws way too many picks. He has good size and a big arm and he would do better at another school with better O-Lineman and a better QB coach. And whoever compared Corey Davis and Khalil Mack as top draftees can not compare LBs and WRs to a QB. Was CMUs Cooper Rush a better passer than Tyree?? I believe so. That helped Davis get drafted high.

If he is inaccurate, going to a bigger school and having to throw into smaller windows is not the answer. He is already projected as a 5th rounder, don’t go somewhere and lose your job and end up like Jaaron. I agree with him assessing his OL and WR core. I think he should hire a private web coach and have a great season in Buffalo next year. CBS has him as the number 5 web in the country so him going to UB has not hurt him, his mechanics are what has adversely affected his draft stock. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ubbullrun.com/platform/a...

If Jackson is an inaccurate passer, what does that make Rourke? He is passing at 57% in his first two seasons.

You just stated a big reason why he should transfer. If he can't throw into tight windows in the MAC...he will not be successful in throwing into tight windows in the NFL. Jackson needs the experience of throwing against top conference corners....which our conference lacks. The article is great but that was when they were 6-1 playing okay teams. Khalil Hodge is the best pro they have...then Johneon....then Jackson. He should try to attend Manning Passing Academy camp then hire a QB coach before the draft. But another perspective at another school wouldn't hurt. Buffalo isn't guaranteed to go 10-3 next year and he could decline without a big target like Johnson on the roster. What else does he have to prove at Buffalo that he can't do somewhere else? And he needs to get ina situation like Burrow where the transfer school has QB dilemmas and he can step right in. A la North Carolina Tar Heels or Miami Hurricanes!

Rourke struggled with accuracy at times too. He could do better as well. Look at the completion rates for Rourke in the first and last game of the season. At certain times in Rourkes short career, we have all stated he could be better at passing and holding onto the ball in critical moments. Our QB has better legs than Jackson...therefore not a good comparison anyway to a true pocket passing QB with NFL size. Rourke has gotten better year over year. Jackson slightly got better year over year. My question is...how many QB coaches has Jackson had in Buffalo during his stint? Is it the same guy?

Jackson has mechanical issues and routes is mainly decision making. Rourke Also had one wide receiver that could consistently separate and he was 5’7”. Buckner and Cox should be able to separate and they are a little bit taller, he will also have two or three big tight ends that can separate. Rourke also missed the spring, he can’t do that this year. If Jackson can’t throw into Mac windows, how will he throw into ACC windows. Jackson has shown that he can throw with zip and touch and lay it in on short passes, he appears to aim and look as if he has a little hitch. He just needs a real good qb coach.

Thank you!

Edit - I just added Riley Neal, who did transfer, in as well:
Completion percentage by year:
Jackson: 53.1%, 60.3%, 55.3% [55.8% career]
Rourke: 55.1%, 60.0% [57.5% career]
Neal: 58.3%, 61.4%, 67.7% (part year), 57.9% [60.0% career]
Roethlisberger - college: 63.3%, 63.3%, 69.1% [65.5% career]

Pass Efficiency by year:
Jackson: 104.7, 148.8, 136.7 [129.3 career]
Rourke: 132.9, 156.0 [144.1 career]
Neal: 117.6, 120.4, 137.5 (part year), 114.4 [119.3 career]
Roethlisberger: 146.5, 138.7, 165.8 [151.3 career]

QBR by year:
Jackson: 28.8, 69.6, 74.9
Rourke: 73.5, 77.7
Neal: 48.2, 50.2, 70.0 (short year), 62.3
Roethlisberger: NA (stat had not yet been invented)

TD/Interception Ratio by year:
Jackson: 1, 4, 2.3 [2.0 career]
Rourke: 2.4, 2.9 [2.7 career]
Neal: 2.7, 1.1, 2 (short year), 2.8 [1.8 career]
Roethlisberger: 1.9, 2, 3.7 [2.5 career]

Jackson improved a lot from his first year to his second, but his year year was down by most of the above measures. Rourke improved a lot from his first year to his second. What will his third year bring? Neal was below both Jackson and Rourke in most measures, but he had a good year in 2017, though the year was shortened with injury. Roethlisberger was ahead of all these.

For what it's worth, nfldraftscout rates Jackson as QB #15 next year, Neal as #17, and Rourke at #30.

Putting Tyree to the side for a second.....you made a great point. What will Rourke do in Year 3. IM SO READY!! And I keep hearing Elijah Ball isnt playing anymore but wasn't he the guy that slipped in the endzone for a wide open touchdown in our bowl game?? I thought he didnt end his career yet?

The guy that slipped was a freshman named Jerome Bucker, he has tremendous speed and upside, his build is kind of slight, but he may be the fastest guy on the team next year.http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/fball/2018-19/bios/buck...

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes
