So is the PAC-12 the PAC-8 for this year. I only see eight schools listed there. I know that's an upgraded from last year's PAC-2.

Looking at the conference membership, they have made quite a STATEment.

Much like the Big Ten and Big 12 also follow their current numbers, they also do not.

Yes, the whole thing is a big joke.

I really wish we would approach Michigan about playing a game with them. I always find it surprising that we have never met on the football field.

Thanks for posting. Jax State always looked like probably the most likely possibility out of many possibilities. They are in need of a 2026 payout game and we, at some point, probably need an extra "payin" game. I do not see anything on our athletic site as to any details on which it is. It has not been announced on Jacksonville State's site. One would expect that it is most likely a home and home as are nearly all of our G5 contracts. However, in this case I am actually curious about it.

A long home winning streak will be on the line with a new starting quarterback, new coach, and a lot of new faces.

As schools like NDSU and Sacramento State move up and P4s play 9 conference games, and many P5s not ashamed to play an FCS game, there might not be as many payout games to go around as the G5 desires. Which means, much to Bobcat Love's shagrin, supply and demand isn't going to drive the price up.

EDIT: fbsschedules.com now shows this game on out 2026 schedule but it shows no return game. It is probably just still in the dark on that but I remain curious as to if we solved our long term schedule issue by just buying this game.

At this point, I'll settle for anyone at home on 9/12. Surprised it's taken so long to find an opponent for that date.

Hoping for a 2-2 start as Jax State will end the home win streak. Game in Mobile won't be easy.

What's the payout on a G6/G6 game? Usually 1:1 would cancel each other out, but if this is a one-off I'm wondering if that check we're going to get from the MAC for the Sac State addition essentially just pays this game off?

We should also have been paid about $500000 in cancellation fee plus approximately a buy out game fee that we didn't initially count on when UC cancelled the return game of a home and home contract. That's what caused us to be in need of an extra home game.

EDIT: The article on fbsschedules.com is now up and says nothing about a return game. That isn't definitive. They might not have all of the information yet either. But I am definitely leaning toward us just buying this now as my guess. If there is a return game, the year that they would probably most want it is 2029. That would also be when we want it. A 2026/2029 home and home would literally successfully kick the can down the road until at least 2035.
