He’s battled injuries if I am correct. A football eye tells me he was a difference maker. I’m always baffled by some of the personnel decisions. If he was healthy he should have been out there. WR depth is an issue. A walk on Equipment Manager started at Safety last week. Good Bless him but what does that say about the scholarship DB’s?

It says that our coaching staff hasn't adequately recruited for a few years. Right?

Safety position is looking verrrrry very thin for next year.

Losing Elad, Drake, Floyd, Hampton, Ballentine, Wolff

Left on Roster: Collier(RS JR), Scales(FR), Motton(FR), Oseni(RS FR)

He seemed like he was having a great time at OU. Really hope this isn’t an Albin problem though.

Gregory took away Elad's starting spot at SS over a month ago, so Elad is leaving. The better player is staying and Elad's vacancy will be filled in the offseason.

Only reason why Jett was out was because he had a walking boot on about a week or two ago. Gregory gets a PI call 85% of the time he’s in coverage. If he’s the “better player,” we have problems.

So based on the game notes and stats, Elad started the first 4 games, got hurt and missed 3 (CMU, Akron and Buffalo), played in the last two against Kent and Miami but never got the starting spot back. And now he gone...

Yup sounds about right. Compared to ESPN’s stats, he third on the team in tackles as well.

Another guy who was buried on (or should I say off) the depth chart. It opens up another scholarship. No harm in this loss whatsoever.

What a remarkably shallow and deliberately obtuse analysis of the Bobcat's out-of-control downward spiral.

McNair's announced exit places yet another exclamation point on Albin's trainwrecked leadership ability. It took me less than 10 minutes to gather the needed information to see that...

a) Ohio leads the MAC in MID-SEASON portal transfers (followed by Buffalo with 3) - and arguably, we're not worst coached team in the conference

b) 4 of the 5 Bobcat portal entries are 3-star athletes - the other, Buckner, has proven career stats

c) combined, these players have 16 MORE YEARS of eligibility

Looking broader - 247Sports has rated Ohio's recruited players for 20 yrs. McNair was considered OU's 56th highest recruit since 2002. Above him on that list appears Elad at #50, Wilbon at #37 and Denson at #7 - now, they too are gone.

I make this point because even looking at the current situation from this angle - this season alone, FOUR out of the 22 Ohio currently rostered players - that are considered the top 56 recruits of "all-time" - have decided that they would be better off entering the portal, losing their scholarship and facing the possibility of never playing again, rather than leaving their future in the hands of Tim Albin's ineptness.

... and before I hear you say that player ratings don't mean much, I'd would be happy to direct you to the hundreds of articles written each year, by coaches, recruiters and analysts, boasting of a teams ability to attract highly rated players. The fact is - ratings mean something and our team has lost nearly 20% of Bobcat Football's "all-time" recruits in exactly THREE WEEKS.

Say what you will about how minimal you think these facts are or how there's no harm in losing a solid recruit who still has 4 years of eligibility to make his mark - it's all window dressing you're slapping on the core of our problem. Your inability and that of the AD Cromer's to get through the Albin Precontemplation Stage is doing nothing but making our organization look foolish and further crumbling a program that, at this point, still has a remote chance of recovery.

We have the talented players to win - we just don't have a talented leader to be successful.

You cannot guage these losses until you see where they go. The majority of all transfers end up going down, not up or laterally.

I respectfully disagree with you. We're not losing insignificant players here and it doesn't really matter where they go. Due to NCAA rules, THEY don't even know where they're going. My issue is with the time and expense wasted by getting them to commit to OU only to lose them - coupled with the way they left. They didn't leave pre-season like many of the transfers from other MAC schools. Their mid-season exit is, at best, a communication issue - at worse, it's a respect issue. Either way, the HC bears the brunt of blame. I truly hope I'm off base with this thought process but I fear I'm not.

Transfers are very common these days. With the exception of Elad, the impact is minimal. Hopefully, the 'cats can pick up some quality DBs from P5 schools to bolster that unit.

You know, every time I see this thread jump to the head of the line I think "Oooh, what fresh Hell is this?"

It'll be very telling based on where they all end up. The only ones I can see at an FBS school are Buckner and maybe Elad.

South Florida (USF) has a couple of decent players in the portal……WR Bryce Miller and RB Leo Perker….positions we could use some help in.

IMO our only hope this year is to recruit the portal hard.

At this point in the game with so few verbal commits, it's our only hope to save this class.
