My normally optimistic nature has come to the conclusion that unless things drastically change, what we have experienced since Coach Solich's arrival-hope about the future is gone. We look as disorganized this year as we did last. However, there doesn't appear to be any urgency for things to get better both in the action of our playbook, as well as our administrative powers that be. I haven't talked to anyone with connections to the powers that be this sports season, but I was told last spring that if anyone thinks Coach Albin is on a hot seat, they are profoundly mistaken.

The administative powers that be are fighting turf battles with a faculty that thinks athletics are out of control, even though MAC expenditures are a drop in the bucket compared to the power conferences. One only need look at the hundreds of thousands of dollars Texas spent to escort the youngest Manning savant around Austin, or the extra 5+ million Nebraska spent to relieve Coach Frost of his duties rather than waiting until October 1st. I am sure there are other MAC school administarors who face the same upheavel. Let's face it, the MAC as we know it will not serve in its current state by 2035, and most certainly 2040. What we had was fun, but as the 1985 Foreigner That was Yesterday states: Goodbye yesterday, now it's over and done, Still, I hope Yesterday will live on.

I liked Albin's hire of Nowinsky as DC. I like the scheme and we are hitting hard and tackling well. The problem was getting push at the LOS.

Pretty sure I've seen enough from Albin to determine he doesn't have what it takes to be a competent head coach. The bumbling in game decisions, special teams errors, hapless offense, etc - I see few improvements.

However, I do see in improvement in attitude/effort from the players. We haven't had many penalties and no turnovers the first two games.

Don't want to overreact to two losses on the road against Penn State - a top 15ish team and Iowa State - who is top 25 caliber.

We should beat Fordham next week by two touchdowns.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Ohio University is an institution of higher learning and football is merely an extra curricular activity. I think we’ll be fine.

So what is Alabama by your definition? A football factory with extracurricular education?

A big part of this is talent, plain and simple. We haven't recruited well for the past 6-7 years. That's on Frank. I think there's a lot more energy and creativity going into recruiting today and we'll hopefully see that pay off.

I just checked Forbes college rankings and Alabama is ranked 277. So you tell me.

I’m happy if our team is competitive with our peer group, graduates players and avoids scandals.

Then why not just drop all athletics and save the expense? Why waste any more money? Even though the athletic budget represents about 3% of the University's entire budget, why waste the money? Is it not somewhat hypocritical to continue to throw good money on a losing proposition? BTW, please note my sarcasm.

You might as well Because if people ( not you) can’t see the value even to schools like Alabama and Clemson or Marshall and App State, then they’re not going to understand why schools do it.

I just checked us NEWS and Alabama is 137 among national universities and we’re 177, so what does that mean.

It may mean they care about athletics more than academics. There are several ratings. Pick the one you like. We shouldn’t be comparing our situation with Alabama.

Why not? They were on the wrong side in the late rebellion and OHIO, according to President Solomon Howard, provided more officers to the Union Army than any other college in the Buckeye State. They should be paying us restitution, or something!

I haven’t been posting as much lately but Thanks OCF. I think it is really difficult for a Mid American Conference coaches to consistently get enough good athletes on the field to win championships and compete at the Top 20 level. However, some of these coaches do it once in a while and then move on to the big show. I think coach Solich was able to get a lot out of the talent he had but I don’t think it was ever great talent. This staff seems to not be able to get as much out of the prayers they have. I also have to say that I’ve been much more impressed with the defense this year. I think once the offense gets going we will be pretty competitive in the MAC.

OCF, several of us have been saying this for a very long time. The vast majority here though fail to understand how poor it has been.

And, isn't recruiting a strong suit of Scott Frost's?  Just saying . . . smiley indecision cheeky

You'd have to ask Nebraska about that one! And, you are talking about the guy who said Joe Burrow was not as good as the QB's they had at Nebraska.

Well, I was more referring to UCF, where he recruited some SEC-caliber guys to a G5 school.

And as he would tell you right now, its much easier to recruit to Orlando than it is to Nebraska, and other places in the Midwest.

No doubt this is true, but the only point I'm making is that compared to the incumbent recruiting is a strong suit with Scott. IF he became our next head coach, would not our recruiting probably improve?

I'm sure, SE Ohia has so much to offer kids from the south. Maybe he can use that large NIL pool that we have, all the great things we have to do in SE Ohio.

Recently would be including Frank Solich, as Tim has had one recruiting class. There is nothing to tell me that Frost would recruit better to Ohio than Frank did. He sure did not recruit to Nebraska as well as Frank did.

Well, this is all hypothetical, but in the rare chance that he does become our next coach, I guess we'd find out. My guess is that he would do better at recruiting than Frank because he's less "old school" and would put in a slightly more "modern" offense that would appeal to recruits more in some of the skilled positions. I'm basing this wild conjecture on his teams at UCF.
