Kid was pretty terrible, and is now on to his 3rd school in 3 years. As a kicker.

Clicks and likes and the appearance of unlimited NIL funds everywhere have just destroyed these kids ability to think critically and work to get better.

Show some class. Your opinion on the portal is skewed. Dellenbach was in a kicking battle all year. Was probably told they are bringing in someone else or lost the position. Theres only one kicker. Do you want the kid to stay and ride the bench after being told to leave for some sort of "bobcat pride"? He's just looking for a place to play. Whether that is Marietta or Texas, it doesn't matter, some kids just want to see their hard work pay off and aren't chasing oppurtunites for NIL or to try and move up. Some of these kids just want to find the field. Be thankful for his contributions to the team and wish him well. Disrespectful to a 19/20 year old kid.

We're not wrong for basically calling out something that needs to be called out. It's nothing personal against Dellenbach. I hope he gets it together and makes better kicks in the future. But he had ALL SEASON LONG to figure out the simplest issues with his FG/PAT kicking with us, and most of the time it looked like he just couldn't do it. That's not all on him, but the part that is on him...

I'm thankful for his contributions, but the tape don't lie.

If you want to be negative about it and say we have no right to call it out, then take the negativity out the back door.

Quit being positive on a gloom and doom thread….stuff however is looking good.

Uconn RB is visiting Stanford now soooo I wouldn't get your hopes up on him

Is it right to call out Dellenbach? Well, let's ask some questions, and let's start with easy ones:
1. Did he have a scholarship at Ohio? Almost certainly not.
2. Will anyone offer him NIL in the portal? Definitely no
3. Will anyone offer him a scholarship in the portal? Unlikely.

So, we can certainly rule out that he made the portal move for money. Now for the hard question. Did the coaches suggest he leave, and that there would be no room for him on the roster next year? That seems plausible to me, but not a sure thing. It might be handy to have him as a backup, so he might still have been able to sick around as a walkon, but he certainly wouldn't appear in any games if did choose to stick around.

With these questions in mind, what exactly do you think it's appropriate to call Dellenback out for? For wanting to go somewhere where he can play (since he won't play at Ohio)? For hoping that some FCS team might give him a scholarship, even thought that's unlikely? Most likely he's in that 1/3 of player who enter the portal, only to never play again, but at least he tried, and I see nothing whatsoever wrong with that.

Your post was same as what you said about Cooper Heimbach. You called him out for not making a decision when YOU apparently wanted it. For God's sakes he's a 17- or 18-year-old kid making a decision that is the biggest of his life. Now you want to chastise Dellenbach. Glad you like to criticize kids their ages. Grow up. This is a game guys play for a few years and irrelevant to the rest of 99.99% of their lives.

Unless he hopes he plays more there and then turns that into another bigger D-1 move in his senior year? I have no clue what these guys are thinking anymore. I would have thought Aidan would be counted on along the line next year.

Maybe Fordham was offering more money. Fordham has over a $1 billion endowment. I think over time you are going to see some schools you'd never suspect become football powerhouses because in this current era they can buy players that they couldn't recruit under the previous system. Vanderbilt comes to mind in this regard. I don't know anything specifically about Fordham's desire to pay players, but they probably have the resources, and like Vanderbilt they would be recapturing former glory if they used the current system to improve recruiting.
In terms of a kicker for next year, why don't we just recruit a kicker from Athens High School. That worked really well for us in the past!

Rams have to worry about bigger fish than paying FCS players in a City that doesn't care about college football

"Fordham University implemented budget cuts and a hiring freeze for the 2026 fiscal year, driven by an unexpected deficit from lower-than-expected enrollment for the class of 2025 and federal funding uncertainties, impacting departmental spending and leading to significant reductions in some academic programs like the Honors Program, alongside layoffs and reduced hours for its WFUV radio station due to federal funding cuts. These actions include pausing non-essential hiring, reducing non-staff costs, and affecting student work opportunities, despite efforts to manage finances without layoffs, according to Fordham University CFO Tokumbo Shobowale"

I believe there are some studies that show that a good football program can help enrollment across all segments of campus. So maybe a little investiment in their football program and bringing back the Seven Blocks of Granite days would help their current financial woes. Sometimes you've got to spend a little to make a lot. Maybe the MFFGA movement would catch fire. Make Fordham Football Great Again! [Yes, I'm being somewhat sarcastic, but not completely.]

What I'm having a very hard time understanding is why it bothers you that he went into the portal. It's pretty clear that you don't want him playing for Ohio, and being the kicker next year, but you apparently also don't want him to have the freedom to try to play somewhere else. Maybe I'm conflating your posts with those of others, but it seems like a post like this last one, which says "I hope he does better elsewhere" is all that is needed.

RickyBobby wrote:

And, if he was, that makes it even more likely that the coaches suggested he try the portal. Really, it doesn't matter if it was his idea, or the coaches. He has the right to transfer, just like every person on here has the right to change his/her job, if they feel like it. It's a big deal for the player going into the portal, but it shouldn't be for fans. Life goes on.

Spetic missed eight field goals his freshman year. Now he is at Texas. The idea that Dellenbach can’t or won’t improve completely lacks reason. I think a big part of the issue this year was having to replace not only the kicker, but also the snapper and the holder… and a new ST teams coach for both Spring and Fall! It got better as the season went along…he made 4/5 FGs and 10/11 PATs to close out the year and the missed FG was at Buffalo in 30 MPH crosswind.

And again, the muddled logic needs to be worked on. How are you calling out players for leaving after a couple of years like Johnson and then throwing a redshirt freshman under the bus at the same time? Unreasonable, IMO.

The last day to enroll for Spring semester at Ohio is Jan. 23. I'm sure most would love to be moved in well before then.

The timing definitely puts a strain on the academic support people, as well as the players, families…I imagine there will be hundreds if not thousands of players who don't find a spot in time. I guess they will attend their current school without football while they look.

Of note, some schools are starting their semesters this week.

Great points, Mike. The entire timing of the snap and hold are also important in place kicking.

As far as players moving on, we need to just accept that the new reality is that players can and will move on, and that coaches now have more freedom to encourage players to move on as well. Having players stay for five years, and being able to watch him develop and improve is going to be much less common in the future. There is nothing to be gained by hating on or disparaging players that choose to go elsewhere. We need to either move on and support the replacements... or just giving up supporting the whole idea of college football entirely.

I say again, kicking FGs and extra points means snap, hold, kick. All three were issues this season at times. None are blameless and none are entirely to blame.

Edit: MC and LC mentioned later than my reply. Thank you. I've harped on this before and it's easy to blame the kicker. Dellenbach has a very strong leg and could explode on the scene elsewhere. He's got years left in college.

I haven't seen this level of bizarre shitposting in quite some time.

Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air and a nice bit of comic relief. Zero intelligent thoughts. Just random school girl huffing. Is there any chance you've been by the thread about our former AD? I'd love to get your thoughts on women in the workplace.

You really have no idea what you are talking about. You are mad because many kids are leaving. Plenty of reasons how this program has let the players down in the '25 season. Stop hating on the players. Don't you think the recruits and their parents are looking at this board seeing all your bs posts? I think you are maybe on the coaching staff since you never seem to blame the coaches? hmmm

Do the nurses know you're stealing wifi again?

You're gonna have a pretty hard time finding a single post where myself or anyone else "blame" any player for leaving. Christ, there is literally a post of mine from YESTERDAY that praises a half dozen players for moving up. LOL. I've been shouting out Chase all year. I hope Mason racks up 1,000 yards. Regardless of your lack of reading ability, I certainly don't think a single person on this board is in any way, shape, or form mad about anyone in the portal. Except you. That's clear. Your frantic shitposting, while adorable, is bizarrely misguided. Myself, the rest of the stable people on this board, the coaching staff, and my son - the 3rd stringer I cut from the team or something - are fine.
