MAC announced the national TV schedule. Our Saturday home games vs Kent and Toledo have been moved to Friday nights.

There's also a possibility that our two remaining MAC Saturday home games get moved to Friday as February 4 is both a CBSSN and ESPNU 21 day wildcard selection (WMU 2/5) and February 25 is a CBSSN 21 day wildcard selection (Akron 2/26). ESPNU has a MAC time slot for that Saturday at noon.

This is the price we pay for being one of the favorites. When Buffalo had their big year, they played like every Friday, on the road and at home.

The only guaranteed Saturday home game is 12/4 vs. St. Francis.

It's the price we pay for having crappy conference leadership that doesn't give a shit about ticket buying fans and alumni. Sorry, but it's true.

If you want to change the equation on Ohio Basketball, you have to change the revenue. Biggest driver of revenue is TV (albeit basketball TV revenue is dwarfed by football TV revenue). So you play when they say. I know you follow UD. They play Friday nights, Tuesday afternoons, weeknights at 6 PM, weeknights at 9 PM. It's part fo the deal.

While I know that, agree a little, and see where you're going with it, I don't see it the same on a personal level because of the drive time to Athens. I also don't see UD having a Saturday game being flipped to Friday night two weeks before that game tips off. And that's my issue - once you've released the schedule, stick to it. Otherwise, don't release the scheduled dates until after the TV arrangement has been made. It's a moot point, because I've already got tickets paid for, but it still annoys me.

If you waited to announce the date and time until TV selected, a lot of games would not be announced until 12-13 days out. That would be fun!

Why can't TV decide earlier than 12-13 days on the date of their desired broadcasts? Why couldn't the MAC wait to announce the schedule until after TV announced the changes in those first two games in January?

The MAC and it's TV "partners" could do better on this.

Because that is what the TV contract calls for. The TV stations select on a variety of factors but want flexibility and have that rule in place. They have had that rule in place for YEARS.

I'm not sure what you mean by "years", but there was a time prior to CBSSN being included in the TV deal when the TV contract gave larger than a 12-13 day window. It used to be closer 21-28 days.

And I know, how dare I suggest/wish that the MAC would do better than the current status quo. God forbid.

TV can, but they don't want to, and they have the power to wait. Sports are content, and the content carriers are king.

I hate to tell you this, but I think you know it deep down: Alumni don't matter. Fans don't matter. There aren't enough of us to move the needle, and until we can bring more $$$ than a cable channel, this is the reality.

LSU suffers a major blow as Adam Miller (transfer from Illinois) tears ACL and will miss the season. Scored 11 against us last year. He was on Team USA U19s that won gold at the FIBA World Cup this summer.

I saw that the USC-Upstate game on Tuesday 12/21 is a noon tip. Must be an elementary school field trip game.

As someone who's now 100% work from home, it was nice last year the handful of times I could watch the Cats in the middle of the day if it was slow enough.

Not holding my breath on this one, though. Non-conference when classes aren't in session doesn't get the love.

This game falls into the Christmas shopping season. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl kicks off at 3:30 ET on the 21st. So perhaps the networks believe it will fit into the holiday viewing schedule?

Akron spanked by West Virginia last night in an exhibition, 74-59. From reading comments on the MAC board it sounds like it wasn't very competitive.

Not much detail at all. It, I Found this on a 24/7 UC message board. Looks like the guy who posted it (Chad Brendel) is one of the 24/7 staff for the site.

“UC had their 2nd super secret scrimmage on Saturday against an Ohio University. From what I've gathered UC won a close one, but there was much more of a focus on the primary expected rotations and not as much experimentation with the roster as a couple weeks ago. Planning to talk to a few more folks tomorrow to see what details I can gather...”

If that truly was the result, I'll definitely take that considering Dwight's absence. That same thread mentions UC has five solid bigs and they three guys 6'11 or taller.

Love this part of Chad's assessment but wondering why it wasn't a super duper top-secret scrimmage. Afterall, Chad was able to get some info out of the scrimmage.

I love the response from the guy who said "You mean the team who lost its only good player and has all its bums back?" Funny, I don't remember UC making the NCAA at all so it's nice that their fans are so delusional that they'd make fun of one that did. And as far as that video goes, I'm sure if we wanted to make a highlight video of 8 baskets from any game we played (even a 30-point Buffalo blowout) we could make our team look good too! That video did nothing except make me angry at UC fans :)

Perhaps McDay’s defense was so good that there were no highlights?

Gosh. You would think the guy would remember Jason Carter who started for Xavier against them last year. You know…the Xavier that “cleaned their clock”.
